We have the right to not post things on the social sites and most of us still choose to do so. I think we have to be the ones to protect ourselves.

The people that act like someone they are not and finding our kids on line is one of the biggest fears I have as a parent. I monitor all the activity that goes on across it. We have been blessed the kids do come and tell us when something seems not right and they make a mistake and go someplace they don't mean to go. But it is a small lane to try and monitor and still give them the freedom to explore and to function on the internet. We want them to be safe and also have the freedom learn.

I agree with Scott and didn't think about it tell he said it. What about the things people post about you. Someones thoughts or passing comments could cause a problem. What about the sites you belong to or the threads you follow. Could your personal places you visit be used against you if people in your life don't agree with the subject matter you follow. Made me think.

I have to say 2bless is correct it is going to be very a big change when recruiting employees duties of the Human Resource departments use the social websites to not only find employees but also do research on those people. I am sure we all have heard stories of those people that wished they didn't have some of those old videos or blog post or pictures from back in the day on the web for all to see. In a way it could make you more respectful on what you allow to be published about yourself.

Great Player and love the idea of it being a portable player not needing to be installed.

We have been running a family blog for awhile and we have enjoyed it. My daughter uses one to put pictures on that she takes and addes her own words of wisdom. "At 12 those words sometimes surprise me." You can see her blog at http://www.nikipollard.blogspot.com/

I am going to make this a family project and see if we can create our own podcast. Something my kids have wanted to try. They came up with the idea as a way to allow them to record things for my mother who has been in the ICU for almost 20 weeks now to hopefully hear. I enjoyed the article by Racoma, J. Angelo. "Beginner’s guide to podcasts and podcasting (plus: how to create a basic podcast of your own)".

What a great article. I have to say in offering this service you have to know your audience. First you need to know if they will use the RSS feeds or do you need to offer a email version also. (Great point I didn't think about) The other is what I commonly hear from my kids and that is "I don't see how to do that on this page". I have never been into the RSS feeds very much but have started doing this more and more with my kids and the things they like to keep updated about. You know the sports scores and the latest about what the Webkinz are doing. HaHa
