Totally agree (love how one of the commenters can't spell 'director' yet say they value literacy. Ha!). As far as I am concerned a writer who is contributing to society by penning down their thoughts, therefore helping keep a record of the attitudes, ideas and philosophy of their time.... or contributing to society through imparting knowledge, intelligent entertainment or beautifully penned prose, is doing a lot more for society than a buffoon who can kick a ball and join his friends in the degradation of womankind. Sometimesthe country we live in is just sad. Our priorities are all wrong.
I just saw this! CONGRATULATIONS! :) aawwww so happy for you!!!
I am hoping Blameless is better too. This series has so much potential and it is a shame this book wasn't as good as I expected it to be.
Congratulations! :) How exciting. I think you have made the right choice just to relax with your reading/blogging. I have been pondering the same thing. But for different reasons.. no baby, just really busy! I think once we think we 'have' to blog and 'have' to read, that destroys the whole purpose of it. Enjoy your books when you can and I look forward to reading your posts when you decide to write them. Most of all, enjoy motherhood and the new experiences this will bring.
I think that is because it didn't focus too much on the world .... to me a strong dystopian novel must have a good world. I liked this read for other reasons though, outlined in my review. I think if I would have focused solely on it being dystopian, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.
This may be good if you want a light, quick read. But don't expect too much from the dystopian aspect, otherwise you will be disappointed.
Which is what made it worth the read :) in my opinion.
How old is your daughter?
I hate it when you really want to love/like a book but can't. I have had that experience before.
I would love to see what you think of it!
