I think wording is more deliberate than a lot of people think or want to believe. If you lull people into a false sense of security with neutral terms and promises it's a lot easier to get them to go along with your more radical plans later. Much more effective than saying what you really mean and intend right off the bat.
I was watching the John Rich video "Shutting Detroit Down" this morning. It really brought a huge question to mind. What happened to common sense in this country? I mean even if on a good day the liberals all think we're morons, why can't they see that bailing big entities, welfare junkies and whoever else wants a chunk out is not a solution to ANYTHING!! Did none of them ever read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie?" I don't remember the lesson in that book being not giving the mouse the cookie over and over leading to disaster! We should be teaching ourselves to think more highly of "me" not to think that without the cookie of government we can't survive! Just a humble opinion.
So it is basically like watching a dog chase it's tail. I think the whole idea is very appealing at this point. Disagreeing with so many huge changes should give states some kind of rights to refuse without punishment in the very least. I know the NC governor said no thank you to the stimulus money and then the threats started coming down from on high. I think that's a terrible abuse of power - which sadly a majority of this country seems to want now!
That's part of what Delay said. He said if Texas decided to take action they could split into states but that the government would never allow that to happen because it would mean 10 representatives from TX.
That was my assumption too which was why I was so surprised with Tom Delay's answer....just made me a little confused! :-)
So I was flipping through channels last night when I couldn't sleep, and happened to see Tom Delay on MSNBC talking about Rick Perry's latest comments about succeeding. When asked point blank if Texas could legally succeed, he said no they couldn't. From what I've hear from every other source it is in writing that if they so decide they would be able to. Does anyone know which one it really is? Thank you in advance.
Ok so wow, just watched the video. I think I'm still in a shock hangover. For me, having always been a huge fan of Janeane that was doubly hard to watch. Even though I know it shouldn't, but it does in fact hurt me deeply to know I am one of the people currently being torn apart and abused by all of these allegations. I guess I'm just too naive for my own good, because I can't figure out why something that was so positive is now only considered a movement of racist morons. Aren't there more important stories for all the news medias to focus on? Why must we be attacked just because we don't bow to Olberman as a god. Like I said in a previous post, I used to think he was funny and intelligent - Now I'm looking at him wondering why I ever found him appealing. He uses his whole soap box as an attack position. He can't possibly be a happy person. Happy people don't constantly get off on tearing everyone who doesn't share his views down below dirt level. Sorry for babbling! Oh and P.S. I've been with an Idaho redneck for 5yrs and married to for four months and have never been accused of having Stockholm syndrome - good to know I now have an educated diagnosis!
Did anyone see her on the Daily Show the other night? She couldn't really answer questions but she was sure laughing like a school girl every time Jon asked her a legitimate question. Makes ya wonder who did her homework in school and how she's still Speaker?
