At the beginning of all of this(or in this case, season 1) were as we saw straight off the bat( without any continuation from g3 mlp) we saw that Nightmare Moon was planing her revenge on Equestria by plunging it into a thousand years of darkness(and the moon will forever shine DUN DUN DUUUUNNN!!!!!)(Well luckily that didn't happen)(obviously) because thats what her sister did in the opposite by magically sending her to the moon for 1,000 years. And thats what we saw in the beginning of season 1. Well I have a theory: suppose this happened to Celestia( now think about that for a moment) where as she was some how possessed by something or SOMEONE( ie. in theory, ANY can HAPPEN) like a spell went wrong and turns her into a beast and threatens to take over Equestria by plunging it into a thousand years of brightness meaning that sun will never move and will always there, causing the temp to rise and will result( in theory) globule warming which will have catastrophic effects, such as severe droughts(no offence California), climate change( some places will be hot and dry, some cold and rainy), and what ever could happen in theory( whoponyknows). And the only way to resolve it by only if Luna sends her sister to the sun for 1,000 years by magic, but that could fatally/physically impossible(meaning she burn up and die) luckily we have the mane 6

So in theory, basically anything can happen
