Hey guys, I've been out of the jailbreaking/unlocking scene for quite some time now, and I'd rather get the help of you all before going on my own instincts.

So I have an iPhone 3GS with the new bootrom that I would like to update and unlock on iOS 5.0.1
Right now, it's on 4.3.3 with a baseband of 5.13.04, so I know that if I just update while preserving the baseband, Ultrasn0w should be able to unlock it.

So here's the thing... I just created a custom IPSW with Redsn0w, but before I went ahead and restored it, I was wondering how activation worked.

If I restore to the custom IPSW with iTunes while in pwned DFU, will I be able to then just jailbreak with Redsn0w and then proceed to unlock with Ultrasn0w? Do I have to activate the phone somehow? (On T-Mobile, don't have AT&T sim)

Thanks in advance for your support guys :)

Never mind, I fixed it.

For anyone else having this issue, you have to connect your device back to Redsnow and select "Just boot tethered"

I just jailbroke my iPhone 4 Verizon with Redsnow 9.9b3. My phone is currently running ios5 gm, and I'm a dev, so it's activated.

My issue is that when i jailbroke the device, cydia shows up as a white icon and doesnt launch. Also, the jailbreak seems to have broken some system apps such as safari and mail. Please advise

Hey I have an iPod Touch 2g with a model number that starts with PC, but apparently identifies itself as the 'newer model'. Is there any way to jailbreak it at 4.2.1? Thanks

Not as of right now, but I think he's more concerned about getting his iPhone working at the moment.

Do you have your SHSH blobs saved?

I would not purchase anything from a sketchy source such as that. Lol. Frankly, I don't buy their claim.

Yes it will.
