The debate has been on the books since October and there were no concerns voiced at that time. It's an election year, is he going to complain about security costs whenever a candidate campaigns here? Mayor Adams gladly paid thousands of dollars on a daily basis to keep Occupy Portland illegally entrenched in a downtown park. He now balks at the City's security costs on an event that will bring Portland positive national attention and generate revenue for the city's hospitality industry. Sometimes I have to wonder who's worse, Sam or the people who have kept in office?
Seriously!? City government has sunk to a new low. Why issue an edict you're not willing to enforce? Why spend tax dollars for a partial clean up and police overtime when there was no commitment to evict Occupy Portland? Adams could care less since he's wisely not running for reelection. Obviously Chief Reese is a lap dog and we can expect more of Sam's Shenanigan's from him if elected. Certainly he has to comply with Sam's wishes, but give us a sign that there is an independent thought in his head.
Are there any real leaders left in this City?
In addition to the inconvenience and the eyesore, the City has spent thousands for police on overtime to patrol what is rapidly becoming "Dignity Village II". When will it all stop and common sense return?
Bud Clark is like an STD you can't shake. As I recall we tried something similar during his administration and the homeless were headed here in caravans. That, coupled with the non-enforcement of immigration issues and the dissolution of the drug and intelligence units of the Police Bureau forever more put Portland on the map as the place to be if you were homeless and/or an illegal selling drugs.
I haven't lived in the City limits since 1980 and damn proud that i don't support the Socialist Republic of Portland!
Mayor Kight ought to consider a public relations firm and a nicer toupee.
If you looked closer you'd see they're the helicopters of Marine Helicopter Squadron HMX-1. The famous "White Tops" as in Marine One as in the President of the Unites States. Probably will be used during his upcoming visit.
And this Felon continues to be employed in Clackamas County with our tax dollars. (I assume he is a Felon as he agreed to enter a guilty plea and repaid $50,000. That amount makes it a Felony). We shouldn't be surprised if he pilfers money from his current employment to pay restitution and court costs.
Perhaps our very own Mayor "Yosodomy Sam" Adams should venture North and peddle his "peacekeepers" instead of law enforcement concept for police...
