Haha, true Dwaraka! It\'s a big hi for many to see \'Like\' buttons galore on posts, pictures etc. But it has been taken to absurd levels: http://bit.ly/mhfeBP. Also it\'d be better for brands to evoke conversations rather limiting the response to a Like button.

Yes, I read that article a few days ago. My apologies - I should\'ve provided the link.

Thanks, Sujit! That\'s very kind of you to say. Of late, the motivation to update blog posts is waning - comments like yours are welcome! The Search option is on my sidebar to the right. Thanks again!

Harish, am not surprised about Suraj Electronics not having a website. The other ads - the hope is that members of a creative jury will get it!;)

Mrigank, thanks for the comment. As I said in my post: taking up a niche cause was a smart move...at least among the city slickers and TV-watchers (which is a huge number) there is an awareness of Tiger’s dwindling numbers. However, if one is serious about addressing the root cause of the problem and finding a solution, it take a lot more than awareness.

Agree. Harish (http://twitter.com/harishbnair) sent me this on Buzz:

these half hearted disconnected campaigns will not work for the brand. brands should take long term committed view on CSR . I like Avon\'s crusade against breast cancer http://www.avoncompany.com/women/avoncrusade/

and there is another brand which is build on CSR that is Toms Shoes

Sreekanth, as I said in my post: The number of responses is usually linked to ease of participation, the equity of the brand and the fun aspect of the ‘act’ involved. You are right, it is not only about quality of webcams, mobile phones.

Ekalavya, thanks for the comment. Am not surprised at the low number of responses. In India, there are a few barriers for making ads - you need decent quality webcams, mobiles with video recording capabilities and so on. Plus, such campaigns require massive offline support through TV commercials.
