The city owns the Sinclair site. If they are recycling the steel then any money they get for that steel will be taken off any payment FEMA gives the city for demolition. It may be a small amount of steel and money but good for the city for recycling. It makes sense to do this so some people will think something fishy is happening.

What is wrong with a contractor charging for their time? Removing somethng like a date block that weighs that much is not that simple. The HPC wants everyting for free!
It has been two years and no one has bought these old houses and fixed them up. It is time to get rid of them. It seems like everone waits until the last minute in CR to do anything, so if you want to save them buy one and get your check book out and get to work.
It is no wonder that these demolitions are taking so long to get done. Individuals like Rod Scott, HPC and other whinning individuals will not get out of the way. I find it very disturbing that these people want to save stuff that is not worth the effort. I think that more fact checking by some would he helpful since it is not the mold that is the issue it is environmental things such as hazardous waste and asbestos that cause the places to be unsafe if they aren't falling down from being neglected for 2+ years. If you want to fix one of these houses that you think is so wonderful then buy it and get to work. Stop running around complaining and do something about it. Get a hold of an owner buy the house get your check book out and fix it. I agree that the HPC has lost thier battle with the smoke stack so now is waging a new battle. Guess what you will loose this one too! Let the demolition contractors do thier jobs.
Nice to see the old wasted meat packing plant get torn down. Is the Smoke Stack next??
Chuck Wieneke is the smartest of all the council. At least he voted NO to this waste of money. I cannot believe some 30 something want to be Historical person wants to save this huge pile of crap. It represents nothing to this city and from all the other articals, blogs and comments only about 12 people want to save it. So those 12 people should pay for it to be fixed and spend my tax dollars on something important like the roads.
A waste of time and a waste of money!!
Save this thing?? You have got to be kidding me right?? An April fools joke in late May??
