I,ve edited host file , manually downloaded iPhone2,1_6.1.6_10B500_Restore.ipsw ,
clicked Option/Restore in new iTunes , and it worked out - iPhone is now back to life with a fresh iOS 6.1.6 ! :) thanks for your support guys !

Now - JAILbreaking issue :
downloaded p0sixspwn for OSX ( i am on 10.6.8) but when i click on it nothing happens ,
it doesnt open ?
how to jailbreak iOS 6.1.6 correctly on OSX 10.6.8?

when i click on http://gs.apple.com link i see exactly the correct text.... this is wierd as my Host file has been edited for a long time .. it looks like this:
##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
fe80::1%lo0 localhost

# Block Adobe Activation
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

what should i do with this Host file?

Slava thank you for your help, here is wat happened after i've tried to resore with iTunes/Apple - i am getting " This device isn't eligible for the requested build " after clicking on OK .. iphone dissapears from iTunes and goes back to recover mode.
is this because i have my Host File edited long time ago to not contact Apple?
Do i need to edit Host file back to open Apple connection?

i've tried many instructions including yours but seems that cant enter DFU mode, but do i really need DFU mode while iTunes would restore to 6.1.3 only anyway, iTunes sees iPhone in recovery mode and doesn't ask for DFU when i click on Restore.... it just comes up with an option to resore to iOS 6.1.3 and click next to agree to their lousy "terms" .... should i just do it ?

thanks a08 :) , but for some reason iTunes gives me the option to restore to iOS 6.1.3 .... not 6.1.6
would it be a problem to jailbreak 6.1.3 guess not ?

thanks for your reply :) this iPhone 3GS is factory unlocked and jailbroaken , but ive been always careful and preserved the old baceband from 2010 . Now that its in constant recovery Loop and can't even enter the DFU the only option i 've got is to REstore with iTunes to the official iOS 6.1.3 that Apple puts on me ....
will i be able to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 with a modern baseband after the restore?

Hi to all Jailbreaking Gurus ! my jailbroken iPhone 3GS iOS 5.1.1 got stuck in a Recovery Loop out of the blue - it's been working well for years ? cannot enter DFU mode - no matter what i try - Tiny Umbrella, Redns0w, Recboot - it comes back to iTunes logo with a cable , NO GO :(
i am totally desperate as i don't want to recover to iOS 6.1.3 in iTunes ... i will loose jailbreak and the baseband forever , and according to iClarified the iOS 6.1.3 isnt jailbreakable on iPhone 3 GS ? :(
What are other options to try ?
thanks in advance for any tips
peace

thanks for reply :)
my model number is MC131NF ( MC = OLD bootorom) ?
and serial starts with 87922 .... witch is lower than week 35?
does that mean that i have newer bootrom?

12 years ago @ blog.iphone-dev.org - \">asd · 3 replies · 0 points

i don't know what is OLD bootroom ,
but on my iPhone 3 GS i have still managed to keep the "old"
Modem Firmware 04.26.08 ... don't know if its the same as the "bootroom"?

so if i am on the MAc OSX my only option is update to 5.1.1 untethered ?
what is the best scenario / tutorial ?
