If I were to put this phone into recovery mode again, go to Apple and tell them never been jailbroken etc. etc. any chance of getting a new phone? I have done this twice back in the day with ipod nanos with no warranty.

No luck dude. Quite frankly I've had enough. I spent about $450AUD on this device, which is about half price. For months it sat essentially as an ipod touch, however finally when it was announced that it can be jailbroken and unlocked, I did so. It worked perfectly well for the majority of today, until I got a "no service" icon. I turned it off and on to find that it needed to be restored. Now it won't restore, when I get it out of recovery mode it won't recognise my friends AT&T sim card that they loaned me. Genuinely over it, what a piece of shit.

I will do that in a moment, I am trying to restore on my PC and will see how that turns out. Few more minutes remaining. Thanks for your support, I'll be posting shortly.

Once plugged in, it says "waiting for iPhone" after which it says "NO SIM INSTALLED".

Well, I just restored and it was stuck. You told me to use umbrella, which was successful. Now when I try to activate it so that I can use the phone, it doesn't recognise my AT&T sim card.

Er, my AT&T sim card is no longer recognised?

One other question, now that's "restored" I will put my AT&T sim in etc. Do you recommend wiping it clean with a restore, or it's perfectly fine now? I wish to carrier unluck this too.

Sorry, could you please elaborate on that? Is this "tinyumbrella" used on the iPhone itself, or on an external device? My iPhone is actually stuck in recovery mode.
