If I were to put this phone into recovery mode again, go to Apple and tell them never been jailbroken etc. etc. any chance of getting a new phone? I have done this twice back in the day with ipod nanos with no warranty.

No luck dude. Quite frankly I've had enough. I spent about $450AUD on this device, which is about half price. For months it sat essentially as an ipod touch, however finally when it was announced that it can be jailbroken and unlocked, I did so. It worked perfectly well for the majority of today, until I got a "no service" icon. I turned it off and on to find that it needed to be restored. Now it won't restore, when I get it out of recovery mode it won't recognise my friends AT&T sim card that they loaned me. Genuinely over it, what a piece of shit.

Once plugged in, it says "waiting for iPhone" after which it says "NO SIM INSTALLED".

Well, I just restored and it was stuck. You told me to use umbrella, which was successful. Now when I try to activate it so that I can use the phone, it doesn't recognise my AT&T sim card.

One other question, now that's "restored" I will put my AT&T sim in etc. Do you recommend wiping it clean with a restore, or it's perfectly fine now? I wish to carrier unluck this too.

Sorry, could you please elaborate on that? Is this "tinyumbrella" used on the iPhone itself, or on an external device? My iPhone is actually stuck in recovery mode.

I've jailbroken my iPhone 3GS new bootrom and have also unlocked it. It was working fine for a while with "3" carrier here in Australia. However, after receiving a "no service" message, I decided to turn the phone off and on. As soon as I turned it back on, I was at the emergency screen? What is going on with this...

It's working for longer now, but still has weird issues. For example when I load facebook it opens then quickly closes. When I plug into iTunes after I turn off and on, it says it can't be recognised and needs a restore. What if I try jailbreak again and try to use ultrasn0w again on top of this one?

Hey guys, I'm running iOS4.0.1 on iPhone 3GS new bootrom. I have jailbroken my device and then unlocked it. I put my carrier sim in and it didn't work. It suddenly started to work and I could make calls and send sms temporarily. Now it's no longer working and telling me to connect to iTunes. When I do this, it asks for a restore. What should I do?

A simple question - Will there, in the near future, be an iPhone unlock mechanism that does not require "blobs" or any previous jailbreak? I am asking with respect to a 3GS iPhone with iOS 4.0.1. and new bootrom. Thank you

Awesome, but is it possible to unlock without having access to the features of the phone? I ask this because I have noticed that unlocking is done via the iphone itself. If I cannot use any of its features, can I still do this after a jailbreak?
