Obvs there are worse things people do than rag on hipsters (like say "rag on"?) but I agree that this is still totally acceptable prejudice. Even in my conflict-averse, pro-respect workplace I'm pretty shocked by the way people will openly assign all kinds of negative personal values to people that dress in 'hipster' fashions, or wear jeans to work, or have an "edgy" hairstyle/color, or dress 'too professionally', or whatever. It's like people have generally accepted that things you can't change about your appearance are off-limits but things that you can change are fair game for all kinds of assumptions.
I had the interesting experience of being in a stall when a person came in to clean the washroom... not content to either wait until I was finished or leave my stall 'til the next time, she actually mopped the floor of my stall WHILE I WAS IN THERE from the stall next to mine. Hah!! At least it was getting clean?
