Even in my conflict-averse, pro-respect workplace I'm pretty shocked by the way people will openly assign all kinds of negative personal values to people that dress in 'hipster' fashions, or wear jeans to work, or have an "edgy" hairstyle/color, or dress 'too professionally', or whatever. It's like people have generally accepted that things you can't change about your appearance are off-limits but things that you can change are fair game for all kinds of assumptions.
