Is THAT why she was holding on to McConaughey for dear life? It was so odd...

Ha! No need - I'm with the others when they say this is a really thoughtful article. I like your analysis, and I like the fact that the comments aren't spiraling into chaos like so many others on this subject.

I thought this was really interesting, from the Al Jazeera Libya Live Blog.

7.30pm: After the EU suspends its Libya Framework Ageement, and amid international condemnation of Gaddafi, where is President Obama? Rosalind Jordan, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Washington DC explains: "You didn't need the translation to see how much Gaddafi was trying to blame this on the US, among others. So the White House doesn't want to make any public speeches - they're very aware of how that could be seen across the country.
Gaddafi asked, in his speech: 'Do you want the Americans to come and occupy you like in Afghanistan and Iraq?' If the president weighs in now, the Libyan authorities may well use that against the protesters."

It's definitely a delicate balance.

The costumes... swoon! And the spectacle of it all. And I can never help thinking "Listen to your friend Billy Zane" whenever he comes on the screen. :)

You're so right - it's the soothiness. Fast Times at Ridgemont High is another one. I never saw Napoleon Dynamite; maybe I should check it out and add it to the list!

How did Titanic turn into one of those movies that I can never not watch when it comes on TV?
