There's been a whole lot of closing down and parting ways in the past few years, but allegedly the guys at Dracco have it under control, according to the interviews. Who exactly is going to animate the show is still not clear, sadly.
As for the similarities to the old style... Who knows. I'm ready to see a total overhaul, personally.

Ah, yes, level 6-1, one of my favourite levels! Special gems that shoot horizontally are made by matching 4 gems vertically, and vice versa.
