Hey There Everyone,
I am gwashingtonkin's husband. We can't believe the response from you all. It makes me feel proud of this site.
Anyway, You have read how this all began, but what hasn't been said is that this man had been trying to fight me for years. Once was in front of his three year old grandchild and I had to calm him down to have him talk rationally. This man is twenty is over 20 years older than me and about a foot shorter. There has to be something mentally wrong with him. After he stepped up on my disabled wife, I tried to diffuse the situation by turning by back and walking away with my wife in hand,. He hit my upper spine. I turned around and , tried to subdue him but he just wouldn't stop. I did not want to seriously hurt him just make him submit. Which he eventually did. I walked away and he immediately called me out again. I just said are you kidding me? Even a bear can't deal with a rabid raccoon. I went to talk with my neighbor who saw at least part of the altercation. All she could say to me was "How could you? You're so much bigger than him." Even the police said that I was so big that I should have taken the hit, ran and called them, we have called them over and over again. Always to no avail. Even when they threaten to beat us down. I didn't know if he would hit me or my disabled wife next.
To fast forward, We are in the holding cells before being transferred to the jail. My arresting officer came into the cell and spoke with me. He told me not to worry, these charges would most like just get knocked down to a Battery charge. And he told me "You know, I'm not so sure about those witnesses. The three of them were hispanic, he's hispanic, and they are backing him up. And you're the white guy." It was obvious to us by how we were treated, the officer knew they arrested the wrong people. That is why they gave us instructions how to deal with the system.
When we were in jail something else happened, I didn't know how to react. I felt that this is how it is, in California. I have never had any trouble with the LAW. I was woken up in the middle of the night (at least it felt like middle of the night. Had no idea of the time.) 3 other men as well as myself were taken from our cell, with no idea why, and swobbed the inside of our mouths taking our DNA then finger printed us. I was told that just because I was accused of a felony they had the right to take my DNA. How do they have that right.?!! I thought I was innocent till proven guilty. My wife had hers taken right after they fed her pain meds, with no food or water. She didn't even know what she was signing she was so loopy.
When I did finally get bailed out, walking out of the men's cells area, who was standing booking someone else? Our arresting officers. The rookie who didn't look to happy, saw me and perked right up. A big smile came across his face. His partner I actually patted on the back as I walked by him. Just before I walked out the door to freedom, my arresting officer actually came and talked with me for a few minutes while I put all of my personals on. He wished me luck and out the door I went.
Again thank you all for your support and brilliant ideas. We are going to take everything into consideration. Please keep us in your thoughts.
