I don't know about those "afros" who were not interested in furthering their education, or who are not as qualified as the Indos, and all the other nonsense Ryan writes about. But out in Arima where I grew up ALL the young black males I knew as a child have done well for themselves, whether in the private or public sector, whether through academic or skills based pursuits. In fact the tendancy to drive their kids towards higher learning is what I remember about society out there.

I am sick and tired of having writers like Ryan and misinformed bloggers harp on and on about the dumb uneducated lazy disadvantaged afros of Trinidad who depended on the PNM for handouts and jobs in the public sector, as though this SMALL group are indicative of the national whole. Jeeze! And FYI not all people of african descent on this island are PNM supporters! I don't know when people will get that through their heads.

I would like to interject here to remind some bloggers of a FACT that all seem to overlook in this race talk that they LOVE to engage in.____There are no africans in Trinidad, save the odd nigerian or ghanian or whatever. There are BLACK people. Full stop. And I say this because what is never acknowledged is that most black "generational trinidadians" are actually mixed race. Most non-urban blacks have grandparents or great-grandparents who are not of african descent. There are different sectors within the black population of Trinidad. They are not all one tribe as can be said for the Indo population. ____Yet for some politically advantageous reason, all you see are references to the "newly arrived" urban black population, and their behaviour and attitudes and activites are somehow ascribed to the entire black population of Trinidad. Unbelievable. ____

There is a saying that molesters know how to choose their victims. The same can be said for any abuser. Most times these men are sociopaths with similar traits which they mask under charm. Women are taken in by the charm and smooth talking of these men, and also a trait all sociopaths share - the quick commitment/latching on within a couple weeks or even days of meeting the victim. These low self esteem women mistake this for love and are happy to finally find a man willing to commit. But that should be a huge red flag, if a man is calling himself "your man" or talking marriage or want to move in within such a short time of meeting. By the time these sociopaths show their true colours the hook is well and truly in. And usually that is after they start the isolation phase - isolating their victims from the outside world and any family and friends who might intervene or even see them for the devils they truly are.

I usually read your articles with anticipation of leaving with some imparted knowledge of benefit to me and mine. However on this point Mr Harris, you have spoken like 1) someone completly ignorant of IT matters and 2) someone who cannot see the forest for the trees.

As an IT expert myself, and someone who has used this skill in crime fighting in the UK, I can tell you no one in T&T can solve this riddle. Nothing short of Scotland Yard/MI6 or the FBI/CIA should be involved, as it involves multiple email hosts and possibly multiple data plan providers.

Knowing that Dr Rowley could not (and as far as the UN convention on whistleblowing says, should not) investigate this matter himself, I for one am glad he chose to bring this into the public domain. Whilst you castigate Dr Rowley for not "doing something" for months, you neglect to include in your article that he gave the info to the President who then gave it to the Integrity Commission, which regardless of what the PP spin doctors say IS the correct body to investigate what amounts to misconduct in public office.

If nothing else, Dr Rowley's bringing this matter into the public domain has allowed the population to observe the reactions of those implicated. And my dear Mr Harris actions speak louder than words!

Note to the Express: By UN convention, to which T&T is a part, when a whistleblower brings infor forward, the person to whom the info has been handed to CANNOT investigate it but must hand it over to an appropriate higher authority for investigation. Dr Rowley did what was required by international law in handing over the contents of this package to the President, who then handed it to the appropriate authority, the Integrity Commision. The IC is the appropriate body to investigate misconduct in public office, which is what these emails purport to show. The IC has the authority to then hire any arm of the security forces to assist in its investigations.

That right there is the truth. Anything else is propaganda and spin by the PP and its allies, all of whom I now consider to be enemies of the State.

In time to come, Kamla will look back on her tenure as the only female PM in this country and realise that her abysmal performance and ultimate demise were due in no small part to her horrible judge of character and inability to choose personnel wisely. Almost all the scandals and hits to her gov't have come from outsiders brought in to her gov't, or her party just for the elections. I maintain, Kamla is the worst PM ever! Closely followed by Anand the worst AG ever. This gov't truly reflects the absolute depths to which we have sunk as a nation. Lord, where Robbie when you need him? lol

According to several internation drug reports from various bodies, the entire political landscape of T&T has been completely compromised by the drug cartels of south america, the Tongs of china and the middle eastern elements. It wasactually said that it would make no difference who was elected because the cartels control both. That being said over a decade ago, are we surprised that gov't come, gov't go, no one has the slightest interest in dealing with the main source of all our crime woes, the drug trade? Add the arms trade and the people trafficking trade into it, and it is clear that the politicians are either protecting their friends and financiers or are themselves involved in these cancerous trades blighting our country. The PNM was simply ineffective whilst the PP went a step further and removed any impediments to the trades AND make sure their friends get off scotch free from any charges. ____Come on people, it is time to call a spade a spade. Take away the oil & gas money, and the profits of drugs and money laundering and T&T is a failed state. We cannot govern ourselves. We are lost. Time to call in some foreign body to take over.

Correct. The state of CAL is a miniuture of what is going on with the ecoomy at large. The oil & gas moey and the drug trade are the only reasons we have not been pitched right back to the recession of the early 80's yet. Fact!
