Screencasts using Quick Time X have been so easy and you can't beat the price--I already owned it! Just drag the film to iMovie and let the real fun begin.
.Pandora keeps getting better!!! Love it. iPhone, computer, Roku, FB...now I need Pandora for the car? ( I suppose I could play Pandora through my iphone while in my car, but I would still like to see it built in to the car's system.)
***Please be aware that recordings of radio streams, may NOT be legal, we recommend that you investegate your local laws, before using TheLastRipper*** This is taken form the bottom of TheLastRipper home page page linked above. Unfortunately I wont have an opportunity to piss off the feds because when I tried to download the program I got this: (No OS X 10.5 leopard support, sorry). I'll check back from time to time. Too bad, sounds like a great feature.
Okay, Last.fm has potential as it's easy to start up and the audioscrobbler is a nifty feature. Within 5 minuted I was playing the music I already own via their service. As for usefulness, unless I start to social network my music--something not planned for anytime soon--I might as well allow iTunes to continue to manage it. Nevertheless, the day may come when I'll want to share my eclectic and crappy taste in tunes with the world.
Yuck. I linked Lala with my Facebook account and it appears that none of my friends have chosen to use this service--at least through Facebook. Furthermore, when learning about a new service, particularly one that wants me to toss money at them, I appreciate an easy access, full-on tutorial explaining how thing work. Didn't see one. All in all, this service is confusing and lacks potential for day-to-day enjoyment.
In addition to Pandora branching out via the iPhone, any day now they will have a channel through Roku. Roku is a device that allows live streaming of the Netflix instant-view options, via the internet, directly to your TV!!! The HD compatable device costs $100 and will allow you to watch over 20,000 instant Netflix choices for as little as 9 bucks a month. Soon, I will be able to use my Pandora account through my television. As long as Pandora keeps finding ways to diversify the way in which their listeners' can enjoy the service, their long-term success is more likely.
I didn't know about the geotagging--great feature.
No surprise for me that IS outscores FB in the picture game. I've taken two photojournalism classes at wustl and IS was always the preferred media for sharing . I think the draw, for me anyway, is the purist format--it's all about the images. Facebooking and such may be more inclusive than most would like and IS offers a venue for photo sharing without the perceived obligation to post status updates and comment on surveys.
I did my edits via their new beta. Smooth sailing.
