This is the one of the stupidest ideas I have heard come out of Portland leadership in quite some time. Limiting the type of alcohol sold really won't make a bit of difference. If people want alcohol, they will get it in one form or another. This sounds more like just another way for the city to get their greasy fingers around businesses and put a strangle-hold on them. I swear, this city seems to be trying to chase all business owners away with the tax and regulate mindset they posess.
People freezing in their own homes is a healh issue. I'll take my chances with the smoke.
I think the government has no business telling people how to heat their house. If you have a wood stove, more power to you. Gas, oil, and electricity are so expensive, that wood burning stoves and fireplaces are an excellent source of heat for very little cost.
I'd say we are already falling, and fast.
Whereas I might, and usually don't agree with PDX, there is no reason to start the name calling. It gets nothing accomplished. Attack ideas, not people.
So when you find someone in your house in the middle of the night, I hope to see a news story about how you gracefully subdued them, arrested them, and transported them to jail without so much as a scratch on anyone. And how you perfectly handle the media coverage, explaining that you dont like the police here, so you decided to do it yourself. Since you don't believe in them and publicly condemned them to hell, then I fully expect you to never dial 911 and request any assistance.
That is a good point. Thanksgiving will never be the same for any of the families involved. Very sad indeed.
So many people get hung up on the age of the girl, yet seem to not think a teenager can cause injury. I agree, she got what she deserved.
Very good point about the parents. So many critics here are so quick to jump the police with their comments, but where were the parents? Clearly they were not supervising her, and allowing her to hang out with gang members. Maybe DHS needs to pay that household a visit. And me saying DHS should be involved in ANYTHING is huge.
Yes, I'm sure all this guy needed was a "warm 'n fuzzy" from a co-worker and everything would have been ok. What reality are you living in?
