Best of luck (fellow NOLA-ian?)! I feel ya about job searching there. I'm pretty much staying in NYC rather than moving back because of the lack of jobs in my field. Hope it works out, working for the Hornets would be great!

Public transportation really does it to me, as it just seems to highlight how selfish and rude humans can be (ugh, I sound so uppity!). But really, the passengers on the train I take every day have a reputation for never moving to the middle of the car; they prefer to huddle in the door way, making it impossible for people to get on.

The first week that I'd moved to my new neighborhood and was taking the train during morning rush hour, the first train was too crowded (not really) for people to get on. So when the second train pulled up, and I noticed there was plenty of room in the middle of the train, I loudly (but politely) pleaded into the blocked doorway "WOULD Y'ALL PLEASE MOVE TO THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAIN?"

Silence. Shocked looks (did she really just publicly address strangers on the train? what is she, a street performer?). No one moved. The bell for the door closing rang, and before they closed, I exasperatedly yelled, "YEAH, WELL, THANKS A LOT!!!!"

After that I learned that physically pushing people out of the way is more acceptable than kindly asking. Sigh, my momma would be so ashamed of me.
