Sorry that you had to go through that kind of harassment - and I'm glad you figured out ways to deal with it.

I'll bet these 'gays are wrong for scouts' folks won't hardly acknowledge the fact that the straight leaders are far more likely to commit that kind of crime (yes folks, that kind of harassment IS a crime) than a gay person.

Coolness.

the fact that this is all you do won't affect the fools who couldn't figure out that you would be reasonable and age appropriate when you chose to not buy from them.

Notice how none of them have said 'oops - I didn't mean to accuse you of being a horrible person' now that you've made them aware that you wouldn't do something like that?

You and I disagree on the issue.

And stop trying to crucify someone because you don't agree with them.

I see grey areas where the absolutes you insist on don't work in the real world. You don't see how an artificial requirement that 'everything is the same no matter what' doesn't work in the real world. There is integrity in evaluating each individual situation for it's merit and making the decision on the merits of the individual situation instead of applying a 'one size fits all' solution.

We disagree. I'm done.

Sorry - you're bringing all kinds of things into this discussion that have nothing to do with it.

Gays in Scouts - or rather Gays not in scouts. That's the issue. Bringing up anything else and calling it related is a non sequitur.

Yeah - there's unfairness all over the place - doesn't mean that it's related just because it's unfair to someone somewhere. We could go off on a thousand tangents of 'it's unfair, so it's related' or we can stick to the subject of gays in or out of scouts.

well, you were the one that incorrectly said that I was comparing girls to animals, cars, etc. when I wasn't. What do you expect when you do that? to be applauded?

My arguement didn't fall flat - you insist that girls not being allowed into boy scouts is somehow relevant to a discussion on whether gays should be allowed in scouts. I don't beleive that it's relevant.

I'm done.

No more so than your 'absolutism' does.

(absolutism = demanding that ALL cases of anything must be absolutely equal, even when they are unrelated to the issue being discussed and regardless of the different subject matter, details and facts of each of the 'other things that have to be equal so that I can knock the other person's stand on something).

affirmative action is 100% unrelated to the issue of gays in boy scouts. Let's get back on subject.

First of all, other organizations are not relevant to the situation with the boy scouts. Let's not get off subject here.

However, Legally (whether you or I agree with this or not) if an organization has been known to be institutionally discrimantory, they can be forced to no longer be that way, and to put into place rules that require that they make up for that discrimination until the scales are balanced.

Let's not get off subject into a dicussion about other issues, ok?
