Not blown away either BUT there have been a few here and there that were battered just right and employed some sort of dipping sauce. Those ones were pretty good.

You can get them here if you live in the vicinity of Manhattan. Essex and Grand. I could eat them all day. Sweet and spicy.

I thought it would retain some of the flavor of the watermelon but it didn't. Guess it makes sense to me now why it doesn't work.

Pickled pineapple on the other hand.

I remember wanting to try both pickled watermelon and bananas foster for years, convinced that they would be immediately elevated to the top of my favorite foods list.
