Your experience sounds very similar to mine, except you got to have your baby naturally. My son was NOT trying to go out. His heart rate DID drop, but I am not sure if it was from the pitocin. I was actually already due to go into surgery, since my water was broke for 12 hours and he still never came out. As they were doing what ever they were doing, his heart rate dropped and suddenly my room was swarming with people. We did get rushed to surgery, and the way he was positioned in me he had to be vacuumed out.

All in all, I'm glad everything went well and that you are doing well. Congratulations, and welcome to motherhood. It's a glorious thing. <3
