the qualifications (if you want to call them that, requirments might be a better term), have remained unchanged. No felonies, drug abuse, domstic abuse ect. Not sure where you are seeing people with drug and as-sult charges are getting legal wepons. That would cause them to fail the background check portion of qualification/requirements

So many more people are getting them because they actually can. I lived in Iowa City for a number of years, and permits were virtually never given (as it was sheriff's discretion). In places like Cedar Rapids it was never really much of an issue, since the sheriff’s office was pretty fair about it. There were reports of people who had tiff's with the sheriff getting denied.. Not sure if anyone actually proved that. My point being is that is can no longer be up to the sheriff’s discursion to give you the permit. If you pa.ss all the necessary qualifications and background checks, you shall be issued the permit.

A mo.ral opp.osition to a law is not one of the two ways that laws are written.

You will also notice that I am in fact sticking to the topic in this article, and not dragging you off topic, as you seem to be intent on doing. We are not debating the Pres. currently. Maybe at a different time.

Laws are in fact not always about fairness, I will agree with you on that, however my agreement with you stops there. The point of laws are either 1 for public safety or 2 protection or enforcement of consti.tutional rights.
