So what? That makes you special? Guess what, I am ALSO a taxpayer (and sorry, no husband, no trust account, just my own hard-earned dollars). I am adult enough to realize & understand that they COULD have been charging for those spaces 7 days a week for decades, but did not in the past. Now, they need to. If you don't like it, then don't go - it's that simple. It will leave more parking for the rest of us who DO want to go to the waterfront.

Yes, in fact, there ARE particular "needs" to join. There are co-ed scouting programs offered under the Boy Scouts that the Girl Scouts do not ofgfer. I spent 4 years in the Sea Explorers when I was in high school - an opportunity I would not have been able to have in the Girl Scouts.

There are also Police Explorers, Search & Rescue Explorers, and many other Explorer opportunities.

You do not have to wait for the economy to crash to go back to the stone age - you can revert to that yourself any time you feel like it, and let the rest of us remain here in the current century.

I was a PROUD member of an Explorer program, they are offered for kids in the high school years & are co-ed.

I had the same "arguement" about school fiund raisers. Why make the kids "sell" to "earn" prizes, when only a portion of the money goes to the school?

GIVE DIRECTLY! That way 100% of what you give goes to the organization you are supporting.

Cut out the middle men & make your money go further.

"confictions"

Don't know if that was intentional or not...

Good for you!

My Dad was a BS leader, my older brother went all the way through & made Eagle Scout. One of the biggest thrills for me was the weekend that I got to tag along when Dad took the boy scout troop on a camp out - it was a FABULOUS weekend, WAY better than anything I had ever gotten to do to date with the Girl Scouts.

And the leaders ARE remembered by the boys. I was working & took a call from someone with a fairly unique last name - turns out he was one of Dad's "boys", and all he could talk about was the camp outs - how Dad would have his "own" food (usually a steak in the cooler) while the boys had to "follow the rules", but that Dad also had a soft spoot & extra food for any patrol that's menu did not quite work out as planned. My caller said that the best times he had was going on BS camp outs with my Dad.

Then they might want to purge their ranks of all the STRAIGHT men who have been molesting scouts for DECADES.

And yet, all the "evil homosexuals" were BORN - of presumably straight, heterosexual parents.

Go figure...
