I did not expect this ending. That poor man, his own grandmother thought it was a good idea to snuff out his life.

Posts that don't use proper grammar, i.e., commas where needed, are also difficult to read.

Don't they have beacons that people can buy for just such an event?

There's a registry where you can enter the home address for your cell phone (which would have helped in this case). Of course, you have to update it when you move. I'll try to find it and post.

This link is to register your phone to receive emergency notifications: http://www.rpin.org/rpinweb/Subscriber/Register.a... I'll keep looking for the one where you can enter an address associated with a cell number.

I do not know of an app that will notify 911 of your location while away from home, but I'm thinking it's because current technology isn't up to the task. Even while using the "find me" feature on some apps, satellites still place me about a block away from where I am.

Perhaps camper-wannabe doctors would agree to a barter with park rangers or boy scouts and do a knowledge transfer. Camping and rafting 101 for deeper-level first aid training.

That's what gets me on this one, they could have easily done an online search about it and found out everything they needed to know to be safe and have fun. I can't help but think another substance was involved, but who am I to know?
