While the tea party has been largely co-opted by the republican party because they saw their base shrinking, know that originally the tea party evolved from Ron Paul followers that were completely non-partisan. Palin, and Glen Beck are not the owners of the tea party. They are parasites that have latched onto an idea that they wish they had the intelligence to think of. It's too bad you are so intrenched in the ideologies of the (also) controlled left to see that the original concepts of the tea party were noble and honorable

Not enough pressure from the constituents. It's not a priority. The MADD crowd was pretty persistent in the 80's so my guess is that originally had some influence. Now people are more distracted by the economy, so it just isn't seen as being important.
