With the aging of our population, many people are seeing a doc many more times a year than just preventative services.

I think another note worth making is: Nurse Practitioners and Physician's Assistants can help to keep the costs of healthcare more manageable.

Kobe ... THIS is the catastrophic medicine the article noted. Many of us just need a personal relationship with a doc we are only going to see a few times a year. I haven't seen my doc in over a year. They called me once to follow up on the routine blood work they ordered.

The fire department had not even cleared the scene when I showed up at my burning home. They handed out stuff via the windows to me. And at the end ... they boarded up the building.

I had no idea this was not the custom. It was hard enough getting important things replaced after the fire, I can imagine thinking the building was secure so I could do other things first.

SWIM: My doc replaced my meds. Said any meds exposed to fire/smoke would be considered contaminated.

There are a lot of focus groups who use social media to develop and maintain relationships. Examples of groups I am aware of would be: veterans from a particular era or conflict, people with a common interest or hobby (gaming, crafts, nutrition) or working professionals who desire to contact others with common goals (LinkedIn).

Are they friends or just friendly? They serve a purpose.

Friend does not mean you know them face to face in the social media age. I had many chat friends I maintained contact with without ever knowing how to contact them directly.
