I have followed this story and note that many of the comments were made before KATU posted other facts that indicate this to be a family issue and not drugs or gangs.

The first comment was posted 17 hours ago which is well before information became available. It would seem to me that with the information available at the time and the number of gang related incidents that are in the news that a comment about gangs was reasonable.

I can see his point but if the procedure saved his life he should be thankful.

A few years ago I underwent a sex change m2f and have never regretted it but then my desires in life are different than most. I feel complete and at peace with my decision but can understand his position

Just saw the photos of the victim and the teen charged, think that the suspect will claim that there were sexual advances or the two of them drove to the coast and the victim wanted more than the suspect wanted to.

Just a thought, nothing has come out yet but, it is possible

Several years ago I was suppossed to be a victim of two guys that wanted to beat me up because of my sexuality. The tables turned on them, one ended up in hospital then in jail thanks to parents that demanded that I study self defence when it became apparent to them that there were those that would pick on me in school.

For the most part in todays climate gays do not make very good victims and are going to stand up and resist then followup in court.

I do not believe the suspects mother.

My heartfelt thank you to the stranger that risked his personal safety to help an unknow person

There are positions both for and against this issue, however there seems to be other public and private employers that provide the coverage including Multnomah Co.

In reality there will be very few people that will partake in this procedure, thus will not be that costly to the taxpayer.

A few years ago I transitioned from male to female for many personal reasons, however I had to save my personal funds to afford it. It was difficult but in the end I paid for it and am very happy with my life today.

Gender reassignment surgery is a choice in many cases, it is not as costly as some other procedures, it requires a week plus of hospital care after the procedure. There are a few doctors in the US that provide the surgery and a few in Canada but the least expensive place is Thailand.

Prior to being approved for the surgery one must have mental evaluations, live their lives as the opposite sex and function in their day to day life being identified as such. There is a saying which is true and says that most of those that opt for the change are male, "it is easier to dig a hole than build a pole"

There are a lot of things that are involved both before and after but most of them involve personal adjustments such as getting a drivers license and passport in your new name, property, vehicles, banking etc. which do not cost insurance providers money.

I had the transition surgery male to female a few years back and am happier and better adjusted with my life. I paid for the entire cost myself including travel, hospital care etc. not the taxpayers which is as it should be.

Times are changing and yes other large businesses are providing this type of insurance thus to remain competitive the City should keep pace to attract the best employees

Puttiing everything about this persons background aside, he deserves to have his only means of getting around returned when he was released.

It takes a really cold hearted deputy to stand there and watch a man crawl out of jail. This guy has issues but he was in for drinking in public not a major felony. He deserves compassion, I doubt anyone else would stand by and watch him crawl out.

If I walk down the sidewalk holding my spouses hand I do not expect to be assaulted, however I am always aware of the possibility that those around me may have sinister motives.

When I was a child other kids picked on me because I was different than they, one day I was beat up on the playground while a teacher watched, my parents were livid that there was no intervention. They put me into martial arts classes and required I attend regularly, in time I built self confidence and skills. Today I have no fear of those that would assault me or those I am with.

I am not big and strong but rather feminine petite physically but not mentally.

Think you might be wrong ivugsb, the wounds on the victims, the witness statements and the victim statements will be enough to convict.

How many defendants go to trial and admit their guilt?

Two men or two women holding hands is pretty obvious to most that they are gay. Do you actually think that this would have happened if it were a male/female holding hands?
