That is fine and all, but be careful not to screen everything through the context of history. Some things are still valid... Let's say aborigine situation in Australia has a lot to do with the history even today, but I really can't see the connection in this case.

I think there comes a time when you have to discount history. Would a Jewish woman think it's about her being a Jew think that if someone wants her to have another child it's because of Nazi-movement? Or would a white German think it's about Nazis if someone wishes her them to have children with her blonde husband? I don't think so. Amazing as it sounds, I think that is a well wishing comment, regardless how tacky it is. People love children, and they want everyone to have that joy of children. Some people simply do not understand why someone wouldn't. I just had a discussion with a woman who wanted to renew her prescription for the pill. Her doctor told her that that would be the last time she would renew it, because it was time for her to have another child! She doesn't want another, but because she only had a boy, the doctor insisted that she would have a girl next. And, she was white as a sheet that woman. (I bet you she'll go to another doctor the next time.)

I don't think the family being black has anything to do with people wanting them to breed more. Good heavens, people want to see the right amount of children in a family, regardless of the colour. You have to have one girl and one boy to be complete family, that's it. Your breeding is everyone's business it seems, it's everyone's business who has ever heard of you. As someone who doesn't want to have kids, but have had the audacity to marry regardless, I have seen some AMAZED looks towards my white face; how could you NOT want children? Every woman wants children? What on earth are you going to do with your life if you don't have children? Colour plays no role in that amazement. And, apparently, it doesn't matter if you are a the first lady to be, it's still everyone's business.

I can relate to this. I have gone through a lot of adjustments of self confidence and how I bring it out. First I had none. Then I developed it into a fairly healthy amount. Then I noticed that my friend had none, so in order to give her more space and opportunities to shine, I diminished myself to smaller than what I really was. Of course this didn't help my friend in the end, but just put me in a very bad emotional state. I had been suppressing myself for quite some time, until it all came out with a huge burst. I call this my narcissistic phase, and not surprisingly I then made friends with a woman who was a full blown narcissist or just someone in the same situation. (I think the former.) She certainly inflated my narcissistic tendencies and I may have done the same to her I don't know. I just know, that somewhere there I went overboard and I am readjusting myself, still, I may have gone too far back again, not very much back, fortunately, but too much. I guess my wakeup call came when I said something to a complete stranger, and then a second later realised I was way out of line...
