I am from Toronto, Ontario and our accents are similar to the California accent (which makes no sense regionally) but I always thought I had no accent, either, probably because my accent sounds like the one on TV. It makes sense, though, that everyone in Hollywood, California, would speak the same as the rest of the Californians. Also, I say "you guys" referring to a group of people, not only men. That is a Canadian thing - it is the influence that the french language has had on our language. Perhaps you Californians should consider your Canadian heritage ;-)

Okay, how could anyone think that a "Lee-Jackson-King day" is good idea? This is just insulting. Tisk-Tisk Virginia. I would rather be in a state that didn't recognize the day than one that did something that bizarre.

Thanks Amy - sorry to reply so late, I have been sooo busy with the holidays and lab work.

Betty was perfection in a woman, I can't figure it out, but one of my resolutions for the year is to be able to make my best features come across as beautiful, sexy and natural as Betty Page. I have also been researching Marilyn Monroe. I have figure that is not petite and I am well endowed, so to speak, so I try to dress with the right balance of class and sex appeal - but I still want to appear "dainty". It is a real tough one with today's fashion catering mostly to stick figurine women and the trends changing by the minute. I am a fan of simple and understated (although for some reason I have a reputation for the opposite!)

I think Betty is a great example of the kind of lady that may have been the same - simple and pretty but with a reputation that was larger than life because of her obvious sex appeal. She nearly jumps out of the page with her charm and charisma. I challenge Hollywood to find personality like this anymore - it just can't be bottled and marketed the way they try to do it nowadays (what is this Hanna Montana crap?)

Hi tokenblogger.

I think my parents fucked me in the first place - I am a celiac with high familial incidence of diabetes and heart disease. So its more likely going to be colon cancer, diabetes or heart disease, which really is no surprise if you look at any national statistics.

I am of mostly European descent, so I do have a sickly, pale coloration. Well Ruthie, I say if you want to try a tanning bed in the winter go slow so you don't burn and just enjoy the light. It has definitely improved my mood!

Wow, Sarah

That's kind of freaky. Do the bangs make you look really sexy? I'll bet that Betty would have wanted it that way ;-)

thanks, Mystery_Man

Let me know when your blog is started - I'll come visit and put you in my links! I was a little disappointed that she didn't discuss the recession, or any current issues for that matter, especially because she did repeatedly tell us how she is a normal person - just like the rest of us. If she is so freakin' normal, then you'd think she'd notice what was affecting the rest of the planet!!! Haha - such is the life of a regular pop star.

Thanks, Amy! I agree there is very little sparkle left. The starlets are too pre-occupied with the gossip. While I am certain that the gossip plant was always an important part of managing a good hollywood career, I don't know if anyone has even bothered with talent. I can only count about 20 people in Hollywood that I admire for their talent - which usually exudes as sparkle in photos (charisma in general).
