Well I suppose that by some fans it is a Sister/brother relationship, but with others its a Mother/Son relationship (like how fans interpret Scootaloo and Dash... it may be canon to have it sister/sister... but with fans and writers, it can be mother/daughter)

Actually... that's up for debate since I think it can be more to a 10-11 year gap (seeing as the CMC are pretty close to that age, under or over, and still no cutie mark)... and in some cases Twilight has shone a parental side when dealing with Spike... so really that's how we see it as 'surrogate' mother (since Twilight literally gave birth to Spike)
