(argh, just typed a long comment and then lost it when I had to log into IntenseDebate) When we moved into our new house, we just put the books on the shelves any old how just to get the boxes off the floor. I then spent a day (!) sorting them out and imposing an organisational system by date of acquisition (and within that, by author, where necessary) - with the intention that I would read the oldest TBR first. I also have shelves for favourites (i.e. books I've read which I loved enough to hold onto), books borrowed from family/friends/library, review copies, books bought in 2012 (off limits until some of the older TBR has been cleared).

How's THAT for neurotic?

Enjoy your break! I've never been to Philly but New York is pretty awesome.

My sister loved all of this series (she's 15) so I read Clockwork Angel (at least the first 80 pages) and then City of Bones (at least the first 100 pages...) - you can see where I'm getting at!

I finally decided to pull the plug when I read "there's nothing between France and Germany - except for Switzerland" - YOU WHAT??? Switzerland isn't between them, but Luxembourg kind of is... do some basic geography guys!!

PS. I came over here from Booking with Heels and will definitely be adding your blog to my RSS!

Lewy Body disease is really unpleasant - my grandmother struggled with it for years. I'm sorry you and your family have to deal with such a heart-breaking disease.

On the plus side - I know things are looking up for you on the job front since you posted this, so that's good!

I couldn't stand the lack of punctuation in A Moveable Feast. You may be more tolerant than I am!

You *had* me! How dare you fool me! (at least... for the first paragraph after the plot summary...) Happy April Fools :-)

I loved this (as did my whole family) but I agree with you, you have to set your literary-snob brain to one side and hope it doesn't drip out too much knowledge while you read this.

I have to say, I loved this memoir. I thought it was written in a funny and upbeat but still heart-felt and honest style. I'm not Mormon so I can't speak about how she treats other Mormons, but I thought she made the faith very approachable to an outsider. I was able to relate very well to her and I actually found her struggles to reconcile her faith and modern life quite inspiring (as a Catholic myself).

Yes! Poor editing has been my main gripe with self-pubbed/author-promoted books this year. It's such a shame because it really gets in the way.
