BeAnne, thanks for your comment. I agree. Yoga studios can be notoriously difficult to reach.

elephant journal: Yoga, Sustainability, Politics, Spirituality. : Madonna Does Yoga in Aisle of Stranded Plane.

Ha! Linda! OK, now I can relate...Half of my family is from Australia. The flight from the U.S. to the motherland is brutality. And I can certainly admit that I do a little yoga-ish stretching here and there. But I guess I imagine Madonna getting into some of her more show-offy poses (see photo above)...In that case...save it for the hotel room. Right?

Just wanted to post the comments from Facebook: Susan Van Norman: oooh... Happy Birthday B.K.S. Iyengar! Waylon Lewis: Cheerful Birthday! I once got to interview him in a group setting with other far more senior journalists at an Estes Park Yoga Journal conference...a great honor. And those eyebrows! ~ Waylon Maria Renna: Iyengar was the first style of yoga that captured me. Thank you and blessings, Shri Iyengar! Pamela Cleminson: There isn't anyone in yoga he hasn't helped. I wonder what he does on his birthday?

elephant journal: Yoga, Sustainability, Politics, Spirituality. : Gita in a Nutshell #4: Each of Us is Already Infinitely Wondrous (Divine, if you prefer)

I find these passages very powerful. Perhaps its because many of them involve birth and death imagery, but at the same time they aim for the reader to be "released from dualities" (i.e., ideas of death and birth). With this in mind, I was especially moved by: "I am the source of all things, and all things emerge from me; knowing this, wise men worship by entering my state of being."

Hi YfC! I didn't know you were an avid cyclist! So, you do yoga to undo the damage done from cycling, and you cycle to allow yourself to better practice yoga. What if you just did a ton of yoga? Then you'd probably go nuts from not cycling, right?
