Thanks for a great post Stephen. I can often be frustrated at my lack of growth (or what I think is lack, often times it's there it's just a slow process and i want to change overnight). Yesterday Tim Kerr spoke at my church. He spoke on prayer and praying for the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. (http://www.covlife.org/resources/3764465-The_Prayer_for_Power) One of the best messages on prayer I've ever heard. As I was reading your post I was thinking how part of faithfulness for the Christian is to pray for God to work the growth in our lives. The more we want growth, the more desperate and passionately we should pray for it.

It constantly amazes me how I forget that legalism is a sin. So in my attempt to earn God's favor for my sin, I'm just sinning more. And then I remember that I'm sinning and I'm freshly aware of how AWESOME and free His grace is! What a merciful and gracious God.

Nothing takes away my breath and fills me with awe like the night sky on a clear, crisp evening. One of my favorite parts of the day is to take our dog out right before I go to bed. It's a last minute reminder that no matter what happened during the day, the awesome Creator who created the stars and planets (and keeps them in orbit) is the Creator and Redeemer who is in control of my life. As I look up, I am put in my place as the creature and stand in awe of how big and powerful my God is. It's a reminder to trust and a reminder of just how great my God is!

Throughout the conference I was reminded of God's grace and strength. And also the amazing truth that God answers prayers. I had the amazing privilege to serve during the conference. I was concerned that my wimpy body would not be able to keep up. I prayed for grace. My church prayed for grace. And quite unexpectedly I found out the Next prayer team was also praying for me. I sailed through the conference and was in awe of God's care for me and how often He answered our prayers.

Scripture is always the most help in challenging circumstances. Chewing on objective truth when my subjective soul is whining is always helpful!
