Had to smile as I went with three girlfriends last Monday– unlike you we elected to go on swimsuit day. (Believe me, post-babies was far more attractive than now). This is a frontier I can't cross over – you can take the girl out of Britain but you can't take British culture out of the girl!) The changing room was traumatic enough, more Brazilian waxes in my eyeline than I ever want to see again. Interestingly the place was packed so there is demand for cover up. Lots of older couples and many young (gorgeous) people. As my Kiwi girlfriend wisely pointed out, so much better for the young guys to have swim shorts than run the risk of unexpected arousal.
Congratulations to YOU for doing this, I'm afraid over a certain age some of us need to wear something to hold everything together!!

Definitely check out the Tuckerbox for anything aussie/brit related. They travel to the UK every week to stock up on name brands and are very helpful at getting what you want!
As someone who has NEVER run out of Sainsburys red label teabags in 15 years (no one can visit unless they come bearing carrier bags of the stuff) I understand the need for a taste of home. Interestingly I realise they are the only item left on my expat list these days - especially when heinz baked beans are readily available in AH and C1000!!

Every word resonated - I related to everything you had to say!
It's so true what you said about brushing off upsetting incidents which in the first years would have left us devastated for days. These days I mutter darkly and curse violently under my breath - a much healthier option than hiding under the duvet for days.
Hope the pregnancy is going well, thinking of you!

I've driven on the left and the right and have no problem - until it comes to getting in the driver's seat - wherever I am I ALWAYS get in the wrong side. Go figure!

I had to laugh reading this . . . it's so true! The Dutch away from Holland are the most outgoing and fun loving people you could wish to meet - back in their own country they're as glum and rude as the rest. I have Dutch friends who have repatriated back to Holland who admit to having a personality transplant on home soil - they reckon it's a combination of having to mix with other dutchies and the weather!
