Listverse : 8 Vampire Myths Explained

Haha!! There was a hilarious SNL bit in the 90's w/ James Woods (I think) playing Dracula in the modern world. Before he would attack his victims he would have to ask them all these questions about their sexual promiscuity, IV drug use, etc... I remeber cracking up to that one.

Listverse : 8 Vampire Myths Explained

Not sure why this myth came into being but I googled it and found this: "Old folklore from Eastern Europe suggests that many vampires suffered from a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder , being fascinated with counting. Millet or poppy seeds were placed on the ground at the grave site of a presumed vampire, in order to keep the vampire occupied all night counting. Chinese myths about vampires also state that if a vampire comes across a sack of rice, s/he will have to count all of the grains. Aside from the Muppet character of Count von Count on television's Sesame Street and a fifth season episode of the X-Files titled Bad Blood , this characteristic seems to have largely disappeared from popular culture. "

Top 10 Lists : Top 10 Sports Games Decided by the Officials

I know this list was posted before this incident happened but I had to comment on it. Jim Joyce's blown call on the last out of Armando Galarraga's "perfect" game was a crying shame. I know it wasn't for any kind of championship or pennant but seriously, its not often you see a perfect game pitched.

Top 10 Lists : Top 10 War Films

Although they have been mentioned in earlier posts I would have to include "Breaker Morant" (incredibly well done) and "Glory" (Denzel Washington in one of his greatest roles IMO). Also would include "The Great Escape" (what an all-star cast they recruited for that one...excellent movie. My wife hates war movies and she loved that one so that should tell you something). Great list BTW. I just found this site and will be coming back in the future :)

The "fight" w/ Famke Janssen (as Xenia Onatopp) in the steam room (if I remember correctly) in Goldeneye was great. Mainly because her move was squeezing men to death w/ her legs. She can squeeze me w/ those legs anytime :)

I kind of wish that Colin Farrell had bit the bullet early in that one. Not sure what it is but I can't stand him. Apart from that, "In Bruges" was a great flick.

Guy Pearce as SSGT Matt Thompson in "The Hurt Locker" was what 1st came to my mind. Not really because he was an influential character but because he was one of the few cast members I had heard of. I expected him to make it a little longer then 5 minutes into the film. Great movie though.

I was born and raised in Houston and moved out to a very rural area of Texas about ten years ago. I'd never really known what I was missing w/ all that interference from background light and smog. The 1st night my wife and I stepped onto our back porch and looked up in the sky we were absolutely entranced.

Excellent list. I think FDR's economic stimulus acts (New Deal, etc...) were as important as his declaration of war as it pulled the nation out of the Great Depression. Overall I would have to list FDR as one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had.

I love that movie...not a dying line (errr...conversation) per se but a classic one: Sentry: Do you want the padre? Harry Morant: No, thank you. I'm a pagan. Sentry: And you? Peter Handcock: What's a pagan? Harry Morant: Well... it's somebody who doesn't believe there's a divine being dispensing justice to mankind. Peter Handcock: I'm a pagan, too.

Well Suharto, the title reads "10 US Towns Named After Elements" so it would be kind of silly to include non-US towns. I guess what I'm trying to say is, "just shut up and move on to the next list".
