Catarina's World : Can you lead multicultural groups spread around the world?

I enjoyed this post, Catarina, and it immediately made me think of Toastmasters International. I've been a TM since 2001, and have really seen the org diversify and become more global over the past decade as it expanded its reach around the world. I think TI has done extremely well by incorporating global customs and cultures into its practices and persona.

Catarina's World : Get back in the saddle again!

Timely for me to read this post, Catarina. My husband has always been a half-empty versus half-full type of person, and now that he has dementia, that quality is magnified! It is difficult dealing with people who always see the negative in any given situation.

Catarina's World : How will Africans get a better life?

I live in Canada, and our country has opened the door to many African asylum seekers over the past 10 years. We have newcomers from Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Ghana (and perhaps other African countries) who have shared stories of their former lives with us. It is horrific to hear some of those stories. So, YES. I do believe those corrupt leaders should be charged and jailed and made to pay for the genocides and corruption they have instilled on their peoples.

Catarina's World : Entrepreneurship - do genes play a part?

Hi Catarina. I definitely believe that entrepreneurship is nurtured and encouraged by genes, and in the family environment. My father was an entrepreneur, and both my brother have small businesses asa result of the strong example our father led.

Catarina's World : How do you respond to risks?

My experience has been that young people (and for the most part I'm speaking about people in their 30's) seem to be quite ingenious and innovative at problem solving. Perhaps that comes from having great skills at multi-tasking and being able to better focus of multiple factors than some of us of a more senior age.

Catarina's World : How inspiring leaders work

Funny you should post this topic this week, Catarina. I've shared a post I wrote about how these same traits can inspire volunteers. By setting a good example and having an open mind, we can motivate people--whether it's on the job, in the household, or in a volunteer situation.

Hi Catarina. I think a good leader needs to inspire. People that inspire me are people whom I will follow. and as a leader, I try to inspire those who look to me for mentorship.

Catarina's World : Is evil a fashionable and convenient label?

How timely this post is in view of all the evil going on in the world! We can't and shouldn't ignore the evil. Nor, should we dwell on it. I believe that a balance of the two is necessary. We can acknowledge the evil acts or people, try to silence them, and then balance that negativity by helping promote happy and healthy stories.

Catarina's World : How do digital companies succeed?

Hi Catarina. Since you first published this post, I've made a very conscious move in the digital direction. when I publish my next book in 2018, I will be publishing the e-book before I publish the paper version. It is the cost effective and desirable way to do things in this digital era we are in.

Catarina's World : How Wagner helped Francis Coppola succeed

Hi Catarina: I've never used music to promote my biz and I don't have plans to. but I can certainly relate to what you're saying about how some companies use music very effectively to promote their brands. Jeep comes to mind with that song called "Renegade." I like the song do much I downloaded it, after hearing it numerous times in the commercial. And yes, that leave a positive reinforcement on the brand in my mind--though not enough to go out and purchase a Jeep1

I love the social era! Communication and collaboration come easy to me, and so I truly find this more flexible style of doing business and getting things done to fit much better with my own style than sitting in a corporate office when I am told by others what to do and when to do it.

Such a timely post, Catarina, as the lack of democracy in some countries (such as Syria) is so startling as we watch the atrocities against humanity unfold. I thank god everyday that I was fortunate enough to be born in Canada, where all men and women are created equal.
