More intelligent people are more likely to do dumb things -- I love that! This is a truth we need to wake up to in our world.

I think reading at least one fiction book in 2019 sounds like a great and doable goal! If you like Alice Hoffman pick up one of hers - maybe you'll be inspired to read something else as well.

Wow, I have gotten to really enjoy nonfiction since I started blogging and discovered so many fantastic recommendations, but I can't imagine not reading fiction any more! That said, I have gotten increasingly impatient with fiction I don't find worthwhile and will stop reading it partway through, something i never would have done in the past. No time to read books I'm not enjoying.

I read fewer fantasy and mystery books than I did in the past, while I've gotten much more into nonfiction, translated fiction, and modern classics.

I like the sound of The Planets -- I'm interested in all those different aspects and ways of looking at the subject.

That is sad that you had backlash from a negative review. Everyone should be able to have an independent opinion (as long as not personally attacking an author or other bloggers) - why this anger about those who differ from you?

But it's great you got to meet up with other bloggers. I did the same last week here in New England, and it was so much fun! :)

I have not read this book but I've seen it lauded to the skies everywhere so I thought I would read it eventually. It's very illuminating to read your thoughts and disturbing to think that Korean culture is dealt with in such a superficial manner.

Regarding the use of "Park" as a first name, the use of last names as first names has been a practice in English for a very long time, and in recent years has very trendy (Madison, Taylor, etc.). But it seems it's different for Koreans, and Rowell did not take account of that.

These are great questions! I hope you don't mind if I steal some of them for my blog. :) By the way, I think you mean "blogger's block" (i.e. you can't think what to write about, your inspiration is blocked), not "blogger's blog."

I'm wondering about sharing more personal things on my blog too. Are my readers really interested? Maybe I should try it and find out! Thank you for being so brave as to share some of your feelings and worries. I was touched that you were willing to admit your fear of being pregnant -- I think more women experience that than you may think. We're often reluctant to own up to our feelings of fear or inadequacy around motherhood, which unfortunately keeps us from seeking the community and support that can help us through the hard times. I definitely went through that with my own child; it took some years before I didn't feel completely terrified of doing something wrong! I hope you find the support you need, when it's time...and that we focus on supporting each other in our blogging as well.

I am totally lazy about social media. I use Facebook but the results are minimal because I don't want to pay to have my posts "promoted." I can't get into Twitter, I know everyone says it's great but I just don't have the time and mental energy. What is helpful for me is participating in challenges (like the Book Blogger Discussion Challenge) and link-ups, and also going to other blogs and commenting. Your comment brought me here after all! : )
