I'm not impressed with the statlines of the angels. They're really fast (especially with Aurora) and they may even be durable against ranged attacks but they are very very fragile against blasts (VERY common these days - hello Legion!), magic attacks, and even if they get to where you want them, they won't be doing enough damage to be scary. They also have a lousy CMD and all it will take is your opponent killing off 2 of them before they get scared and likely flee and be useless.

Granted, they're BEAUTIFUL models, but I'm not convinced they'll be as awesome as everyone seems to think.

I think the Cipher would be good because he can still hit hard but his shooting options don't rely on hitting a target and offer some good board control.

So the solution is more randomness?

I understand that it's not the same but the number of players, the "last one standing" goal, and even the arrangement of the starting arena all are reminiscent elements of the Hunger Games. Now, I'm not supposing that you have to worry about copyright or anything like that, but there's just something about this idea that gives me such a visceral reaction. Will there be [non-player generated] traps? Will there be wild animals? Will people starve to death? How do you suppose that the player pool gets eliminated if it's not by players killing each other? It certainly seems that players will somehow have to induce the death of everyone else and to what end?

I guess what I'm saying is that the Hunger Games was a great story not because of the fighting and violence but rather in spite of it. You're supposed to root on the protagonist because you want her to survive beyond all odds but you feel guilty when the other people die. Throughout the games you're supposed to feel hatred not at Katniss who did the killing, but the Capitol which forced her into killing. To voluntarily play a game which so closely resembles what is meant to be a gladitorial arena meant to inspire horror makes me sad. It makes me feel like I would be no different than a "career" tribute training for the games.

I recognize that you've put a lot of your time and energy into this but I can't help but smell the same scent of irony as I do whenever I hear about towns banning books like 1984 or Fahrenheit 451.

Any good dystopia is supposed to warn us about what could eventually become a reality given the current course of society. Pitting 24 children against each other, fighting to the death is supposed to be so utterly abhorrent that we should want to avoid something like that from happening. The fact that there's a game being made of it makes me worry that the message was a little lost.

I'm not opposed to violent video games but this is just too close to comfort. It's an interesting concept for a game but I feel like making a game out of it makes me a little sad inside.

As cool as the concept sounds, I can't help but feel the creators of the game didn't understand what the Hunger Games were really all about...

But they're more expensive than the forgeworld versions!

I also think they're gearing up to start selling bits again. My impression of the Chapterhouse lawsuit is that it's not going well and that will probably mean they will have some serious competition for bits and products that third-party sculptors can produce and sell. The only solution is for GW to mass produce their own bits for their customers.

You don't need arc markings on the argus ;-)

I was at Templecon and the question came up if they would be entirely in plastic and they said there'd still be some metal, but mostly just the warcasters and solos. They said it would be the "most plastic in a faction thus far."

They will also be getting their own plastic battlegroup box.
