I'm not saying it's for everyone and there are many good reasons to NOT get that puppy right away (like 5 minutes to maybe get a good night's sleep) but the puppy was the perfect distraction for this non-textbook family.

Of course I still stare at the spot where Dog the First used to hang out and miss her laid-back vibe, but the puppy is so freakin' fun!

Thanks, Flan! You know, it reminded me of how Charlie Brown always got a rock in his trick-or-treat bag while all the other kids got awesome candy. Difference is, my girl would WANT the rock. Can't tell you why, but I'm glad she was easy to please - at least this time.
