http://www.knoxmccoy.com/ : Bad Christian Analogy #2: Kelly Kapowski and Jessie Spano's Senior Year

I understand totally where you are coming from. Great post about all this. I often times feel as though I am "Andrea" when it comes to this kind of thing. As for the paradox, my wife read an explanation that works, but honestly isn't exactly satisfying. It seems we are supposed to take it as all being one school year, and Jessie and Kelly are there, they just happen to have different classes and a different schedule from Tori and that is why we never see any of them together. Now, back to Dora...

tylerstanton.com : Tripp and Tyler Tuesday: Best Dunk of All Time

Very Shaq-esque from his early days of collapsing goals when he dunked. Only Shaq was able to get out of the way. But then again Shaq never went for the flying tomahawk dunk over an obstacle either. Kudos for the attempt. So did the next player have to collapse the goal on their self as well?

Right now I'm reading: 1- All Things Shining by Hubert Dreyfus and Sean Dorrance Kelly 2- Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick 3- Harry Potter #1 (again) I always recommend the Potter series, and All Things Shining has been very interesting (philosophy about finding sacredness in our secular age) and I'm still figuring out what I think about Sun Stand Still.

I haven't spent just a whole lot of time thinking about Donruss baseball cards or the Pro Set football cards in years. I used to have the entire first year of Pro Set cards. Oddly enough, I have thought about the 3 Man Weave in the last few weeks thanks to the fact that my oldest daughter played basketball for the first time this season. Brought back memories of doing such an incredibly pointless fast break drill. What was the purpose to try and confuse the defense by weaving around? Seriously what was that?

tylerstanton.com : 3 Questions

1- Three kids (2 girls, 1 boy [obviously]) 2- I've been watching some of John Oliver's new show on Comedy Central on Thursday nights. I think he's pretty funny. 3- Watched the ESPN documentary on the Fab Five of Michigan in the early 90s. They were a big part of getting me really interested in college basketball, so I was very interested to find out more about their story.

1) I got a Kindle this year which is awesome. 2) When we got married we got a book called "The Act of Marriage"...from my mother-in-law. To quote my 5 year old daughter: "That's awkward." 3) Just started Jesus: Mean and Wild by Mark Galli.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Getting the bus all wrong.

Fantastic post today. I know what you mean about how it breaks your heart as a father to hear stories of your kids being rejected and treated badly. I've seen it happen to my oldest daughter on numerous occasions and it kills me inside every time. I am thankful all the more for a Father who loves us no matter what and chooses not to reject us. Also, I think it would be more like the Magic School Bus rather than a city bus or Greyhound.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : The rarest church musician of all time.

We "rock" the organ every week pretty much in our small Methodist church. After all, this is God's instrument of choice (after the harp that is) for all hymns--unofficially of course. To be very honest, it is just about my least favorite instrument of all time for church. Organs have their place, but maybe that should be at ballparks and hockey arenas. It's hard for me to really get a sense of the joy the hymn writer was trying to convey on a song like "Joyful, Joyful We Adore You" when it drags on like a funeral dirge. Maybe that's just me. I'm sure there are some organists (I think that is the proper term) that can bring it, I'm just not sure that I have been in a service with them. Perhaps they just don't feel they can really let loose though in the midst of the hymns. I mean, there don't seem to be big organ solos written in to the hymns we sing. Maybe one of these days our organist will just break out on the thing freestyle. That would be...interesting.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Praying for things you shouldn't pray for.

As a father of 3 (1 easy, 1 middle of the road, and 1 spirited) I understand. I promise we tried not to brag. Seriously, people would ask and I would avoid talking about the ease with which we were blessed with our first child (number 2 was pretty easy as a baby). So we were ill prepared when #3 arrived and has been seemingly all the "spirited" stories rolled into one little human body. The scariest thing in all of it is that there are often times when my wife looks at me with that look that says "One more wouldn't be so bad, right?"

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Asking people to "scoot to the middle" in church.

I would scoot if asked, but I would also unscoot, rescoot, descoot, what ever if no one showed up to occupy my vacated seat. I too like to have a little room to breathe. So with church seating usually being a first come first serve thing, does that make Southwest Airlines the "Church in the Sky" airlines since they have to same policy?
