Copyblogger ran some good stuff on this several months ago. It's purely secular, but might be useful to you.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Forgetting 1 geography lesson.

I'm thinking that a lot of that dissatisfaction is simply part of the emotional geography--the "little sin" before the big one. It's dwelling on the shortcomings of a spouse and growing bitter instead of forgiving. It's withdrawing rather than solving. It's complaining to friends about a spouse's shortcomings so they'll affirm and strengthen the dissatisfaction. It's Christians strugglling to maintain the illusion of their own righteousness while they sink deeper into sin. Fortunately, Christ does not treat sinners so, but instead he drew near to them, laid down his life for them, and loves them with the love that never fails.

Don't forget to visit some small or even tiny churches. A good one can be more effective helping people grow in their faith than most mega-churches. Also, they are proportionately better at sharing the Gospel. On average, ten churches of 100 people will produce more new disciples in a year than a large church with 1500 in worship.
