(omni)science : Miniprep in detail

First, thank you. I am glad that you like the design. Second, I am actually using Wordpress with the zbench theme. I made some modifications on to it but it would be a good place to get started.

(omni)science : Should Rosalind Franklin be given a posthumous Nobel Prize?

Yeah, I have my doubts about Watson too. I would imagine, unless everything that I have read about him has been untrue, that he is a cocky and a morally void person. But let's talk Rosalind for a sec. By Watson's account, assuming that he is not lying, Rosalind was very hard to work with and not exactly the friendliest person to have descended upon this earth. Even then, as you mentioned above, Rosalind had her inkling about the sugar phosphate chains and had the pictures but she could not connect the dots. She had put the picture-in-question aside and so it is a leap of faith to assume that she would have eventually determined the structure. Regardless, she should still be appropriately acknowledged because after-all it was her data.

(omni)science : How rubbing alcohol kills germs

Bereket, I had put together the information from knowing what I know about microbiology and from a bunch of different resources (even professors) to fill in the holes. So, I can not really give you a scientific source here. Sorry... I did, however, find a detailed info pack from WHO (World Health Organization) about similar stuff, which should hopefully convince you. http://www.wpro.who.int/NR/rdonlyres/C25396AD-982...

(omni)science : The Flat Earth Society debunked

Thanks Alice. I really appreciate the correction and the clarification. I have fixed the site address. I knew about the centripetal force but didn't realize that centrifugal force is just the resultant force. That is why I never became a physics major and I'm glad that you did :)

KATU - Portland, OR : Legal gray area comes into focus as man fights \'ebike\' tickets | KATU.com - Portland News, Sports,

Kids ride motorized scooters all the time and they are under the legal driving age. That tells me that you don't need a driver's license to operate certain motorized vehicles, and that criteria is determined by the size and the power of the engine, i.e. under 50 cc. That said, I'm sure different states have different criteria and a suspended license may be in an entire different category than an unissued license. If this person is a danger than he shouldn't be allowed on a bike.

: If You're Sick - Rest - It's as Simple as That

I like the article. It's well researched and well written but I can't say I agree 100%. I think that rest can be beneficial but depends on the type of sickness. Sometimes, a simple run or some other active cardio can boost up your immune system and help you fight the infection. Have you ever noticed that? My recent post Using real life examples to teach physics

Dented Reality : Body Hacking

I was in the same boat until about a year ago. 5'11 and 135 lbs. So yeah, pretty light for my height. I always wanted to gain weight but hated working out. Just didn't like that whole gym macho thing, and then I found rock climbing. I love it and have actually gained muscle mass! Basically, just wanted to motivate you that keep up and you'll reach your goal of 180 lbs. Keep running also! Cardio is always good and it can be pretty addictive in a good way :) How far are you along in accomplishing your goal? Still following your schedule diligently?
