The Malaysian Insider : Hostages held in Sydney cafe, Islamic flag seen in window - The Malaysian Insider

This is not a time to finger point. We don't even know the motives of this hostage taking and if it's just a guise for something criminally sinister. Even if he's a Muslim, it doesn't at all reflect the large Muslim population in Sydney and Australia. As a Sydneysider, my thoughts are with the hostages and I hope there's no bloodshed in this episode. Extremism needs to be weed-out completely in society today, be it racial, religious and philosophical.

Petroleum is a natural resource and it's owned by us, Malaysians. Tax receipts are the hard work of the people. Two very distinct things dear sir.

I think its really something people need to lead by example and not rely on fines to get people to do their part for mother nature. Its really having the moral compass and inculcate the need to recycle. My mom started me off with that -- really farsighted on her part

On a totally separate note, but one that's relevant to grads, my biggest advice, based on my experience being one once upon a time is that you're first job is crucial -- I rushed into my first job in 2005 at a blue chip company making a measely RM1800!!! My wage growth has not seen a significant increase throughout my career. I look back and that's perhaps my biggest mistake I've learnt.

If we were that competent, we wouldn't have had to make a 180 degrees turnaround in search of the plane right? The Americans and Chinese have a vested interest in this. Apart from being a mostly Chinese list of passengers, they need to rule out it being of malicious nature and the air worthiness of their Boeing planes that are being lobbyists.

The telling number here is how Singapore, in 1988, was marginally in front of Malaysia and is now rubbing shoulders with the Scandinavians and other Western democracies while we have not made much progress. You know something is wrong with Cuba - a communist country isolated from the outside world, Ultra conservative Saudi Arabia and Drug Plagued Mexico and Colombia breathing down our necks. Please do the right thing this coming GE.

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - PKR takes cheap cars promise to the roads @ Wed Aug 15 2012

I know that having cheaper cars is a better option for Malaysian. I can totally see how that can transpire to increase higher home ownership. But I think PKR is missing a vital point here. How about have better PUBLIC TRANSPORT ? That, in my humble opinion, is an even better way to reduce household debt ! Lets face it, cars are depreciating assets - In more developed countries, people are moving away from car ownerships. There are increasingly more companies which are offering car sharing (Not such a good idea in Malaysia as we all know where it will end up, but you get my idea) and even high ranking executives take the trains and buses where I live in Sydney. I would still vote for PR nonetheless, and I know the PR still needs to appease a section of the business community - but public transport is the way to go

The Malaysian Insider : Main - Malaysia - Tony Fernandes’ car is ground zero in airport tax hike spat @ Fri Dec 02 201

I'd love to see new competition. AirAsia has too much of a monopoly in this region. My hopes is that more discount airlines spring up, like the new Scoot airlines in Singapore. Traveling is so cheap in Europe because of the abundance of airlines. For them, cheap is 9 Euros of 5 Pounds, for us, Cheap is RM99. Lets have more competition ! That is the best way we can make life easier on the Rakyat. Let the government allow foreign players in the satellite TV space and let Astro eat the humble pie. So goes for our Telcos and utilities providers
