Just keep telling yourselves only three more years. There is only so much money she could waste. The new Finance Minister however has an impressive portfolio. I really do hope that he isn't corrupted by the 'change' of governance that the UNC represents. In other words, I am placing my hope in the large number of new faces to make a difference. But then again, with so many people holding senseless highpaying portfolio and a large sum of our taxes in their undoubtedly honest hands, it seems we are going to get fooled again.
This is going to be a long three years.

If you had driven at the speed limit, the police officer would not have to jump in front of you to draw your attention. Good thing he is alive though if he wasn't, you would not be able to blog right now. The police officer was reckless but you were not obeying the law and you are justifying your disobedience as well.

Well said and straight to the point. You are right. This isn't going to come to anything given previous situations that are similar. This is merely used to shut up individuals who are talking too much to humble them. I've seen it happen so many times that I've become numb to it.

Try to ignore fyahside if you read any of her comments by just clicking on her name. It is easy to see that she and as well as many others are paid to praise the government in every single decision they make and in every situation that makes headlines. Some of these people are just the same person with several different accounts if you notice the writing styles are practically one and the same sometimes.
Though this time unfortunately I will have to admit that the statement you made is racist. But you must notice that it isn't race that makes people sell out their own but money. Money speaks louder than any race would. At May 24, 2010 -- the UNC government united together under one banner and won using the vote slogan 'get PNM out'!
PNM dug a grave for itself but people readily forget the corruption of PNM which was a big issue at the time.
However no one seemed to notice that this government that came in had no other plans after winning elections. They didn't have a crime plan so they decided to ground us in our homes. They didn't have a marketing plan to gain revenue so the Prime Minister simply attended parties to gain support.
All in all it isn't black people that was fooled it is that this country has a very bad memory. We all care about the now so much we forget all about what happened in the past and that the government in power has no plans for the future. It is just a come as you go situation. If the AG isn't any indication.

Seems that alexandrh is obviously not affected by the SoE. Most people who aren't affected in any circumstantial way would not even be concerned if it affects others. Immediately saying it is for your own good without giving the pains of others a second thought. I bravo you for your ignorance.

I am trying my very best to understand this situation that is going on here. This little girl who made this video was saying everything that we have been saying... only exception is she doesn't have a degree or reputation to her name. Basically the only difference between her and the populace is not what she said, but how she said it. The same people judging her actions on this blog are the same people who scream injustice when something happens in the government. She was brash about it. She didn't think this through. We, on the other hand have no problems lashing out at her. Isn't what she is saying the general opinion of the people at large. Those who are suffering from curfews and searches, not those who sit down in their comfortable gated communities with six figure salaries. Do you really believe that the person living a stable job is suffering due to this curfew? Is it not the poor man who is suffering? I am not motivated by politics as I have posted on other topics. What is the justification of attacking a child for her opinions when she is in an area where she is liable to suffer the most. An area that is 'PNM'. I would understand attacking her if she was in Penal relaxing whilst others are under curfew. Please bloggers rather than be bias and talk about discipline and stupid mistakes of children, remember that when you listen to 95.5 or 730 AM on the radio, when you are listening to Ian Alleyne at 6pm or even when you take in an interview /interrogation on morning edition or during the evening news -- you are listening to people just like her voicing the SAME opinions this young girl has. The only difference between the two is presentation. Let us not be hypocrites and judge her because by coming on this blog we essentially do the same thing. Just our comments don't make a difference. Hers did.

I guess some people are actually thinking about the information provided and forming a conclusive opinion. A far cry from people trying to find every way to justify the situation.

I don't quite understand the issue. St Cyr's comments basically shows his opinions on what the Prime Minister did. Staying at the Gopaul residence and awarding the $40 million NP contract to them appears to be unfair. Especially given that the Gopaul's were the highest bidders and were unequipped to do the job. However the people who seemed to be doing this job for 20 years thus far were the lowest bidders and are equipped to transport the merchandise. I doubt that it would be even logical to allow volatile liquids to be transported by vehicles that are not equipped for that purpose. It would be foolish for anybody to decide to pick the Gopaul's bid at a logical standpoint. If I was to look at the issue in a corrupted fashion however it would surely help to better my understanding. A close friend of the Prime Minister somehow bids the highest and is accepted by the tendering process of Trinidad and Tobago already well known for previous shows of spectacular transparency and fairness such as Calder Hart and Mary King fiascoes. Amazingly enough due to the unfairness of the tendering process, information was leaked on the issue. The Prime Minister appears appalled that this situation has occurred. This may be due to not being able to act as quickly as with Mary King (six months).
St. Cyr however placed himself in a precarious situation. As head of the integrity commission, his opinions should be restrained without proper evidence. In addition to that, it seems that unless his opinions does not coincide with those of the PP. He should resign. Amazing isn't it. Maybe he is right, this entire fiasco would have been avoided quite easily if she stayed at a hotel. Surely the contract would have been immediately revoked and the Prime Minister would have backed away from the issue safely. This cannot be easily done in this situation but St. Cyr I commend you on acting as a scapegoat for this issue. If I was the Prime Minister, I would make your factual opinion such an issue that the population forgets what the actual issue is.

To sum it all up nicely, corruption in any form is wrong. If it is so blatant like this issue I would really be a shame for people to try to justify it by flying racial banners or displaying party fanaticism. The Prime Minister is wrong and has such OBVIOUS vested interest in the contract that I will have to be blind to ignore it or a incredibly foolish PP supporter who cannot form their own opinion. St. Cyr though his opinion is correct, he is also wrong because his opinions should always be restrained. even if the situation is obvious. He seems to know just like I do that nothing would ever come of this situation. Especially since Calder Hart could escape to Florida with millions, do we really expect that the Prime Minister to not be able to escape with ease. Good luck and happy hunting.

Please go back to Britain and live under the Queen. Independence of Trinidad and Tobago was in 1962. We became a Republic in 1976. You may think that after years under British Rule we should still compare their corruption in their country as something we should follow. If the British people don't complain why should we? What type of crooked logic is that? Go back to Britain and live under their rule. Don't complain and leave things sitting down. Keep being a slave and never strive to be a master.

Let's get this straight she resided in Gopaul's home for a short while during campaigning and didn't want to burden tax payers? After paying out of your own pockets during campaigning, do you really expect the treasury to 'pay' you back?

Another issue, apparently the Gopaul's a close family friend of the Prime Minster, they do not have the resources to carry out the contract. Are they supposed to obtain the resources AFTER they obtain $40 million?

Next and most glaring issue. Are the people of Trinidad and Tobago expected to believe that the tendering process is fair given that Gopaul and company didn't have the resources to carry out the process and bidded to do the job for the HIGHEST AMOUNT. What about those who bidded lower. Wouldn't they have LOGICALLY been a better choice even if they too had limited resources to carry out the contract.

The most transparent minster Mary King's price was $100,000. I guess the 'Honourable' Prime Minster Kamla Persad Bissessar's price is $40 million. People sure do sell themselves short these days. The price could have at least been a church or something...
