: Have You Met the Bloggers?

Beer, yes, obviously. But 90210? Maaaaybe the first few seasons but definitely not college years. I remember watching them with my babysitter as a little kid and wondering if my parents would find out. But when I was old enough to watch the later episodes myself I was very disappointed. I guess I was just more of a Dawson's Creek person. *vomits* Don't ask me why. Can't wait to see you on the 18th!
: Hurricane Update Part 5: Xanax & The Crate

That's wonderful! Who would have thought? I am glad something positive has come out of all this nightmare. It's lovely Desmond instantly recognized the crate for what it should be: a place for him to go when he needs personal time. He now knows he no longer has a reason to fear being closed in forever. You have all come a long, long way. I am glad the drugs are helping as well and you seem to be on the right dosage. Team Desmond for the win!
http://peggyfrezon.blogspot.com/ : For Dogs who like to Sleep on the Bed

Nice! That looks cozier than my bed, I have to say. I don't know what it would take to get Shiva to prefer her own. She usually sleeps on the human bed in the spare room because she isn't allowed downstairs at night. Because the cat has always slept with us and he came first, we have to give him priority. But if Shiva had it her way, she would sleep with us every night, even with a human bed all to herself upstairs. I hope Brooks continues to enjoy his new comfy space!

Sweet Brooks. How so very accommodating of him to not want to break any of Kelly's rules, even when they aren't necessarily fair. I think this kind of thing is natural between dogs, especially when one is used to being the only dog in the house. A little resource guarding is completely expected. Since I've only had one dog at a time, I don't really have any suggestions, unfortunately. I do think it might be a good idea to control access to the toys yourself so that Kelly can't hoard them all. I think you are on to something with separating them when playing. Hopefully with time Brooks will be more comfortable. Good luck!
http://peggyfrezon.blogspot.com/ : Will Neutering Make Your Dog Fat?

I have heard this before, actually, and figured that even if it was true, there are ways to avoid weight gain by food choices and exercise. Also, I would rather have my dog gain a little weight than have puppies, which is a whole different medical issue. In my opinion, this is hardly a good enough reason! Love the photo of Hudson, by the way. What a gorgeous dog!
: Guest Post: Keeping Fit With Your Canine

Great ideas! I like the idea of the sit-ups, actually, and could see doing this while tugging with my dog. It would make the work-out a lot more fun and less of a chore. That's what is so great about dogs, they make everything a much better time! It's a bummer Desmond's reactivity has increased as a result of all the chaos. Understandable of course, but it still sucks. I hope once everything gets back to "normal" one day, you can help get him to a happier place when out on a walk. Until then, I guess all you can do is make the best of things. No doubt he is finding a way to have a good time regardless!

They really all look and sound like much the same dog to me. I am sure most of it is politics that only breeders truly understand. All are adorable anyway! My parents have a Jack Russell, at least that's what they call his breed, and I am totally in love with him. They aren't easy dogs to live with but if I was ever to look at getting a pure-bred dog, it would be a breed high on my list.

I actually kind of like walking in the fog, as long as it isn't frozen fog. It always looks so magical and I feel like we are in some kind of cheesy horror movie or bad music video. Like all of a sudden a guy with a guitar is going to jump out and all of a sudden the fog will lift and we'll all start dancing. But maybe I am just weird.

Thanks for spreading the word about the upcoming event! It's disheartening to read about how many dogs still live this way in North America. There is such a dichotomy in the way animals are treated and there are many factors at play, not the least of them economic. I have no doubt many people who chain their dogs like this either don't know better or don't feel they have the ability to do more. Hopefully with some education and a little help, that can change.
