My wife and I, who are both Pretty Darn Catholic, had the full Mass with our wedding. However, her parents aren't Catholic, and a fair number of our friends aren't. We wanted the whole Mass, and settled on having our Priest point out that while the non-Catholics would not be able to receive Communion, they were welcome to come forward in the procession and receive a blessing instead, so that hopefully, it still felt inclusive.

I'm not an expert, but maybe something like "you seemed like a cool person based on our previous chats, and I thought it was nice to have the opportunity to get to know you better"?

Ouch. My wife and I had to travel with our (then 5+ month old) back to my parents in October, as my grandmother was passing away. Mercifully, he was pretty good (a little fussy start and end of the second leg, but not too bad). We did the lap thing, as buying a 3rd ticket at the last minute cost too much, but we were in a small plane, so got 2 seats next to each other (paid for an "economy plus" upgrade on one flight, talked to customer service on another), and we were the only ones on that side of the plane.

Doubt anyone's still reading this, TacoDave, but your mention of "Gunny" Ermey reminds me of my parents' layover in Miami while trying to come home from a Caribbean cruise - they were waiting to get on their flight to St. Louis (which had several planes with issues, and almost got canceled, a FFH in its own right), and there waiting with them was Don King, the fight promoter... I've not seen anybody famous myself, although I'd rather see the Gunny than Don King :p
