The real tragedy is that an antidiscrimination bill is not to legalize so-called "disgusting" behavior---to quote her. Same-sex is already legal. This is not up for debate. Anti-discrimination is to hold others of her ilk that share her loathing perspective accountable for discriminating against others for performing private legal sexual behavior. By offering an opinion on sexuality rather than on discrimination, indicates that she is not proficient or qualified to be involved in any process that impacts broad swaths of people. Her opinion on sexuality matters nothing----what matters is does she or does she not believe in offering equitable protection to groups facing inordinate amounts of persecution. Her anti-discriminatory stance indicates that she is patently un-American as well. Sure she has a 1st Amendment right to be stupid-----but how does she justify apologizing to one person while disparaging many others by failure to do so? Now that is disgusting.

ok...here's the deal. It is, by now, more than obvious that the person with the agenda who is trying desperately to mainstream transphobia...not that it isn't already mainstreamed...is none other than "Dr. Ablow" HOWEVER what we have now is a conspiracy. Dr. Ablow does not own his own network...Fox News is aiding and abetting transphobia. Plain and simple...they just are. By continuing to give Ablow a platform so he can continue to condemn legal behavior constitutes malfeasance on the part of Fox News. As bad as Ablow is...Fox news is even worse. By holding a microphone for him so he can espouse his phobia against a broad class/group of people, Fox news is "holding the door open" for the perpetrators to "come in and execute their crime". It is now criminal for both Fox News and Ablow to continue to violate the civil rights of transgender persons everywhere. In fact by allowing Ablow to have a microphone, they are now co-conspirators. Their simply is no other way to look at this. Without Fox News, Ablow would simply speak and not be heard. In this respect, Fox News is more of the culprit...they hold the key to this transphobic commentary and could put a serious blow toward his attempt to mainstream transphobia. Or do I have this all wrong?

I have written about what it means to be transgender. http://wp.me/pnQPn-1l I caution though that confusion often arises because it is both a category and a label. When used in the broad categorical sense it encompasses "all things about gender" that do not conform to the typical expectations that align with being M or F. When used as a label it represents a male or female who has "changed genders" physically but not necessarily surgically and prefers the use of the word "transgender" over "transsexual" so as to maintain the focus on gender and not "sex". Some prefer the word "transsexual" so as to maintain the focus on genitalia that aligns with the target sex. This is not unlike African Americans who prefer to be known as blacks instead...just preference. Often, we who are trans* make the mistake of introducing the status of our supposed-to-be-private privates in public....thus the terms pre-op, post-op, and non-op. By revealing whats "down there" we bring upon ourselves increased phobia as many will argue that "real" women have vaginas....etc. and fears about "me" invading female spaces. By keeping what's "down there" private....our journey is made much much easier. You will find many arguing against some of what I have said but their arguments only make muddy waters even more so. Yes....time marches on and time will vindicate transgender persons as it has colored people. History will record that the "N" word has been replaced with the "T" word: transgender. Although one of two persons can argue that an apple is a lemon, beyond academia, reasoning, and intellect common sense and knowledge reveal that an apple is an apple is an apple. The take away here is that while common sense and knowledge reveal that the ocean is water and not blue koolaid, there will always be those that, because of subsurface ulterior motives will stand firm against common sense and knowledge. This is what we transgender persons are currently facing which has already led to death sentences at the hands of criminals as publicly noted. What Bill O'Reilly and Dr. Ablow don't realize is that they will go down in history as arguing that an apple is really a lemon, that the ocean is really blue Koolaid, and that the moon is really made up of cheese. While "real" women are busy molesting male students in schools, drowning their own children, and dressing as street walkers in public, we trans women and men are busy merely trying to medically align our physical bodies with our inner birth gender identity. Groups such as Million Moms that are comprised of "real" women and flag-waving "real" men---defenders of the patriarchal "faith"---such as Bill O' Reilly and Dr. Ablow, by arguing that a physical gender mismatch is contagious and will result in the "end of the world" as we know it, fail to realize that they are arguing that an apple is a lemon and that the ocean is really blue syrup. Their contra position is so void of scientific evidence, as Megan Kelly emphasizes, that as men, their folly reveals that their argument rings hollow....their words are merely barks...and that their transphobia runs so deep that it cannot be contained. Just as in a party of two where one so hates the other the hater persecutes the hated so much so that nothing...absolutely nothing the hated does pleases the hater...so too is Bill O Reilly and Dr. Ablow revealing their hate towards ALL transgender persons. How do I know this? Why...the answer is simple. I use common sense and knowledege. Bill O Reilly has a documented history of making unmerited hate-filled comments against transgender persons...calling us "Ewoks"...and now this. Dr. Ablow's silly reasoning that being "transgender" is contagious amounts to well---conduct unbecoming a doctor. Thanks Megan Kelley! You are gorgeous and I love you! Clearly he subscribes to the notion that muddying up the waters...that is being controversial...will generate an inordinate amount of publicity....and indeed his correct. He is a "media doctor star"...and we know the adage "bad publicity better than no publicity". The news media excels in "half-cup empty reporting"....."the sky is falling!!....the sky is falling" paradigm. In this aspect he is the one exhibiting a mental disorder----delusions of expertise...knowledge....peddling opinion as fact. No Mr. Ablow-- I/we will not resort to "hate mail".....for quack psychiatrists are worthy of compassion...not hate. By quack I mean it not in the spirit of hate but in the spirit of calling what is is....a person purporting to be a psychiatrist yet exhibiting obvious lack of expertise on the subject he is opining on. What you have done is make a prediction for the future....stating what will happen if Chaz appears on the show DWTS....apparently you have crossed into the domain of practicing the art of being a psychic. How horrible to be born male, female, or to dare to make the choice to become one as an adult....certainly this spells gloom and doom for America. Now. Mr. Ablow you are proving to be a hired gun for the gender police...enforcing the patriarchal standard of society. By failing to acknowledge the inordinately high death rate at the hands of phobic perps which will subside only after positive portrayal of transgender persons (which Chaz Bono rather astutely knows she is a key player toward this objective), you are essentially aiding and abetting the continuance of the perennial hunting season for we who are transgender. Shame on you...your professional certificates need immediate reviewal...and due revocation----because you are hated? Indeed not...but because sir you have publicly proven your complete disregard for the dissemination of medical fact. You have cleverly articulated your personal opinion and wrapped in in a stained brown wrapper labeled "medical fact". Shame shame... By misrepresenting fact as a psychic prediction, many aspiring psychiatrists will begin to feel insecure in pursuing a medical profession....intelligent children will see right through your smoke and mirrors.

oops...great comment Julianne! Yes Two "friggin" years....during puberty when it hormones do their best work!!! Whatever settlement was arrived at, I hope it includes damages for withholding hormones during two EXTREMELTY CRUCIAL years when the body is hungry for the right hormones and thus responds best! I am an advocate for pre-puberty gender identity screening of ALL children privately (because we know how parents respond to such an issue--sometimes violently). Practically all stressors that are part of an adult gender transition occur due to post-puberty transition since the body develops natal birth gender/sex characteristics. I began my transition at the age of 48 and feel very good at my way, way, after-puberty development---simply stated I always hungered for estrogen since childhood and rejected testosterone (mentally). It goes without saying how much more feminine I would have become physically (although I quickly developed size C's) had I known there was a remedy to gender identity pre-puberty. By triad in my comment above I forgot to include inner gender identity...so the triad is (1) genitalia, (2) hormone levels, (3) and most importantly inner gender identity that is present beyong feeling or thought....it is just there.

When are people going to learn (never of course) that a person's "sex" is a triad of genitalia+ hormones. Without tipping hormones in favor of estrogen or testosterone, genitalia would merely serve for vacating the bladder. Yes, we who are pre-op (the price of surgery is equivalent to the cost of a new automobile) do not delude ourselves that we are in a hopefully temporary "hybrid" state until such time that we can afford a new "automobile" cash or charge which of course is beyond the immediate reach of many---whether undergoing a gender transition or not. When are people going to learn also that "real" men have no desire to become women---except for sexual fantasy on occasion which hey....if it works for some....it ain't illegal is it? But having an inert "dick" from female hormones causes one to obviously be neither male nor female based on genitalia...HOWEVER....other female characteristics such as breasts, figure, facial characteristics DO result from tipping the balance in favor of female hormones. Within society, we don't walk around "nude" like monkeys, apes, or chimpanzees so our genitalia is concealed and is obviously the most private of issues excepting on a "need to know" basis such as medical or incarceration. As we meander our way through life, untold numbers of persons with whom we come in contact are "concealing" genitalia contrary to outward gender appearance, not always due to a gender transition. Amongst us, the most vulnerable in all respects are the elderly and the children....which of course begs the question... Who is tasked with hiring those who work in obviously now proven to be so-called "youth centers"? The first requirement is that they be qualified to serve teens who are in a very tender moment, (that we adults obviously survived) and that they be knowledgeable of all the hazards associated with the adolescent stage of life for ALL teens---particularly with an extremely high-risk group such as transgender teens!! Need this really...I mean really need be emphasized? Because it it does, then I wonder if those who work in these "youth centers" can also answer the question...."from which horizon does the sun rise?" or "can you draw four lines depicting all four directions---N. S. E. W"? Also, don't staff supervisors know that aside from enacted (code) law, case law, there is also specific law....as in when a judge specifically legally enacts a court order such as ordering a teen to receive appropriate medical treatment? I mean this is a violation of Family Code law and undoubtedly HIPAA or some other medical law! It is one thing for "staff" to be ignorant but for now proven to be so-called "administrators"? What the h*ll are they administrating if they are equally ignorant as "staff? Administrating is more than merely supervising employees... As a former L.E. officer, what we have here is a violation of criminal (judges orders) law, civil law ( the teens right to transition), and hate speech violations for overt transphobia....period....amongst other violations.

so...being male = not qualified to receive emerg service? So it was illegal to appear female externally? If so why are so many females running free? So there was a law mandating that external presentation be commensurate with genitalia? The answer is obviously a resounding NO! The ommision of administering medical life-saving aid is murder plain and simple. This is what I call the "execution of judgement." Prejudgment gives way to phobia which then gives way to a commision or ommision that then kills. How tragically sad that Tyra was treated not just inhumanely but less than human. No one will doubt that had it been a dog that needed emergency life-saving care, the dog would would have been treated. What else need be said? Nothing. The (in)actions that led to Tyras death speaks for itself.

What is shocking to me is the following: I remember a story told by a high school teacher...true story. It was an experiment relating to the study of discrimination. A group that was racially equal began to discriminate based on eye color. The basic jist of discrimination is that it is about power. It reveals the serious lack of maturity that remains unchanged since elementary school when boys sought to be the Kings and girls sought to be Queens. It is actually very very sad and would remain only so were it not to be a breeding ground for hate that ultimately endangers public safety. Power, or the feeling of power, yields the "security" of superiority. Of course this "security" is really self-revelation of a acute insecurity! There are males and transgender males. There are females and transgender females. This perpetrator is firstly neither: he is a pedophile who happens to be male. Let us not miss the point here----he wore a disguise for the execution of several crimes, period. No more and no less. I am a transgender female who is the parent of a teenage daughter. Prior to transition, I worked in public safety at various levels. My most memorable arrest was when I, as a result of moving very quickly, apprehended a pedophile who had was also trying to flee. One thing has become real real clear. I am just going to come out and say it nicely...a broad brush on I'm transsexual but not transgender. Total pure unadulterated childish behavior and very much lacking intelligence. Puberty doesn't last 3 months. It is a years-long continuum. As males that we were all born, yes transsexuals believe it or not....you are "real" women now and I'm really Ritchie Rich....but you were once a testosterone-laden, hairy armpit, hairy-legged male....like the rest of us transgendered "less-than-real" females. How dare you, I'm speaking to the "transsexual, real-woman, not-transgender" crowd....in reaching the final phase of a gender transition, or "transition gender"..."transgender" for short....how dare you reach down and draw a line stenciled onto concrete and exclude other "men who became women" (of which I too am one)....and patently disown the 95% of trans* females for no other reason than 1 of the two (1) being non-op as I am or (2) merely because the label "transgender" has lost favor with you all! How dare you, having completed your final phase of transgender puberty, having arrived across the dangerous transgender waters, now reach down and untie the footbridge and banish the rest of us to the very riverbank you once stood on! I have reached the point where I now want absolutely NOTHING to do with the "HOLIER THAN THOU" hypocrites of the cloth TRANSSEXUAL "real women" because you want to know why? You all have proven to ALL the rest of us, in consequence now, to be more dangerous, venomous, essentially now more phobic than "mainstream" non-trans America. Wake the hell up! You "real-women" transsexuals, by denying your "former life" as a transition-gender or transgender female for short....are much better off trying to convince us that the ocean is really blue koolaid! We all went to the doctor, and/or therapist (although my visit to therapist consisted of one session)...began taking hormones....grew breasts and rounder buttocks...got ID name/gender changed like the rest of us....and if lucky got bottom surgery which who cares! It isn't required (most places) so if you all are arguing about "op" status, which as I said is optional....then you are trying to self-impose a RULE that no one else is! So you disown your transgender past, you impose a rule about---what "transsexual" is what some of us/you are because you got it cut off....when as I've said it's an option to do so?....I mean last I checked transsexual meant sex change....as in physical sex change. You've already created a war over two very very stupid reasons to create one in the first place....this war has made all of us look like the men we used to be....guess what?
