I get waylaid by"stuff," too - all the time in fact! Glad to hear I'm not the only one out there who is the target of a waylay!
My recent post Excuse me….but I think there’s a hole in your underwear

I think everyone has experienced the "other" feeling. For some, it is felt all the time. For others, maybe it only happens when they are in certain situations out of their ususal crowd or comfort zone. I really appreciated this post because I recently had to end a friendship because my friend was constantly telling me that I didn't understand her and always misunderstood her. What it came down to, in my sole opinion, is that she could not see past her own shell and could not understand how other people perceived her "otherness." There was no creative outlet - just a lot of pent up misdirected emotion.

I'm currently at work writing a technical report. Not exciting, but the words are still appearing on the page. My primary job at work is to write technical documents, I enjoy blogging because it gives me a forum to do a completely different type of writing. Do you ever find it hard to switch between writing styles. At work, I have to be totally objective. On the blog, it's a lot of opinion and subjectivity.

I used to live in CA and people would always say it was going to break off and float away from an earthquake, becoming an island. Really? Like that's going to happen in our lifetimes.

Never thought much about fears, but now that you bring it up, I guess my biggest fear is running out of time. Running out of time to do all the things I want to do...before it's too late.

I don't monitor my words that much when I'm talking to women. Women to women, we understand each other. My word choices definitely change depending on which man I'm talking to. Men view women who curse in either two ways 1) cool; can hang with the guys; or 2) foul. My opinion, but I can tell right away if they're offended or ...want me to curse a little more.

I so agree. Most people don't understand AT ALL that it can take me up to 2 hours to write a 500 word or less article. Every word choice, every punctuation mark, it all matters when you really put in the effort. I don't call myself a "Writer" with a capital W. I write. I like to write. But, it's just a hobby.

I wrote about a birthday for C, today too, but used Cake. The party was for my Austistic nephew, but he loves the Happy Birthday Song!
